RNC Left With Hoards of Cash But Little Time By Luke Rosiak-The Washington Times October 30, 2012
A late surge of support and months of restrained spending have left the Republican National Committee flush with cash with little time to spend it $68 million as of Oct. 17, which was nearly seven times the amount the Democratic National Committee had in the bank.
Adding in the cash from other presidential campaign committees, the mismatch still was stark: $156 million for Mitt Romney and his GOP allies to $94 million for President Obama and his allies. State Republican parties also had 50 percent more cash than their Democratic counterparts, according to an analysis by The Washington Times.
Its likely that means a surge of GOP spending is coming. Whats unclear is what form it will take, and RNC officials declined to tip their hand.
I can guarantee you we will spend it all and wisely, Reince Priebus, chairman of the RNC, told The Times.
The last-minute strategy poses opportunities and challenges.
The difference in cash on hand allows Mr. Romney to project the image of momentum by dramatically ramping up the scale of his campaign in the final days, suddenly spending far more heavily on ads, mailers and telemarketers.
This week, Republicans began making a play for Pennsylvania, dipping freely into Republican campaign funds and forcing Democrats to spend their more-limited resources to respond, and touting the new push in the Keystone State as a sign that Mr. Obama is on the wane and Mr. Romney is on the upswing.

And they’re waiting for......?
How much did they send Todd Akin ???
Silly Nana...
Todd Akin is a Conservative...
Ohh..
Well...
Never mind...
Up to now, the RNC has been relying on the effectiveness of Obama ads for...Romney! This because all their ads have been so revoltingly offensive but starting tomorrow is the election's gunlap.
Looks like Renice is just another PhonyCon Liberal....helping the DNC anyway he can
The GOP will when elections once it stops putting PhonyCon Liberals in top positions
oops...I meant “GOP will win elections once it....”. My bad
Ask the McCains.
They’ll probably send 2/3 to Obama.
They can use it to buy MRE’s and ammo after Obama wins.
I guess Michael Steele was really better than his successor, but most of us didn’t think so at the time.
You can’t atake them with you to the locker room.
Am I missing something?
I think they should save it for AFTER the victory. Use the $$ to rub it in.
What the hell are they waiting for??? Good grief!
Take to the airwaves and ask the American people for the job.
This money needs to go to congressional races.
we have several Senate races hanging by a thread...a little help could prove HUGE....
what about throwing some cash to some young new pub stars..Mia Love...and the many Iraq/Afghan vets running for office...
how about general ads about the horrible economy...the horrible billions given to green companies who then promptly went belly up, enriching their rat masters...
if a peasant like me can think of ways to support pubs, what the hell are these big buck elites doing?
someday, we'll be lead by passionate dynamic leaders instead of back room deal makers making sure they seem powerful...
again, I'm glad I never give these people a penny...
They gave them less than I gave them which is $0.00.
If they don’t support candidates why should I help them!!!
Go, Todd, Go!!!!!
Give it to me!!!!
How about amping up the GOTV effort with something like this...
GRRRRR!
Could be looking at a 40-state 350+ EV win here.
I have a feeling that this Romney campaign strategy will be studied and emulated for years to come.
How about hiring attorneys to stand in on every rat precinct?
New Romney ad...
“We brought our campaign in under budget and we can do the same for America!” (cheers in background)
Any leftover funds will be spent on the non-alcohol inaugural balls!!!
How bout a win in Massachusetts? Wouldn’t that put the icing on the cake?
DING! DING! DING! That's the winner! Mitt Romney comes in under budget once again...
you'll find that a lot of us don't like the party politics but support wholeheartedly individual candidates...
It's political drip irrigation. Economical, deep, targeted to just the right areas, not subject to surface evaporation, and ultimately very effective. :)
Guys, the RNC has said before they will spend a lot on GOTV.
I think that is where a lot of this will go, plus final ads etc.
And this number is from DAYS AND DAYS AGO....not the current figure.
Perhaps I should not complain. None of it came from me, I only give to the individual.
I have a friend in Florida who is on the ground for Romney, every day until it’s over.
His staff holds early morning and afternoon Strategy meetings. If you suspect ANY hint of fraud you’re to contact the Romney Team immediately and they will have someone on the ground within minutes.
His Campaign has it locked up, particularly in battle ground states. Not surprised.
Can this be used for legal expenses, if the election ends up in court?
Make sure it doesn’t go where McCain’s unspent funds went...

McCAIN’S BAIT-AND-SWITCH:
Left-Over Cash For Presidential Run Spent on Senate Bid
According to his campaign finance reports, McCain transferred a whopping $4.65 million in Presidential money to his Senate race.
“Money that was supposed to be spent keeping Obama out of office
represents about one-third of the total amount McCain spent on his
campaign so far,” Hayworth said. “Maybe if he had spent the money on the
Presidential campaign he would be President...
I agree. They’ve been spending the money all along, it’s not like they’ve been hoarding it, just that due to Republican enthusiasm so much has been pouring in that they were left with a nice surplus for the home stretch. And that’s a good thing. I’m sure all of it is being put to good use, especially in regards to the GOTV effort.
When you don’t have to charter buses and buy sandwiches for illegal immigrants to go in and vote you end up saving a LOT of money!
Heck I would rather vote for the party that at least end up at the end of the election season with a SURPLUS, rather than a deficit!
If Obama wins and QE Infinity has ran it's course you won't even be able to buy a loaf of bread with 68 million dollars....
But hey it will keep them warm at RNC HQ.
Reince, here’s a hint.
We have about 10 close Senate races.
How about dropping about $40M among those races?!?!?!
NOW!!!
Spread the rest around the close House races, AND QUIT WORRYING ABOUT HOW CLOSE THEY’RE WED TO RANK AND FILE ESTABLISHMENT!!!
I still think they will take a shot at Oregon, and Washington, and get at least one of them..
Did you hear about a stop that Romney leaked about campaigning in California later this week? It had Axelgrease’s hair on fire!! Hahahaha
Here in CA they’ve been asking for volunteers to go to Nevada, all expenses paid, to help get out the vote. I guess that’s where some of the money is going.
that ANGERS me so much about McCain....can’t believe I sent in good money several times....but I sent it for Sarah...not McCain....
How much have they invested in keeping Allan WEST and Michelle BACHMANN in the House... or have they been more interested in re districting them OUT?
My donations go to Candidates who represent my values, not to a party establishment machine which wants to go “forward” along with Obama, just lagging behind him a little.
After the establishment (Carl Rove I think it was) announced that the GOPs main agenda - ahead of replacing Obama - was to “Destroy the TEA Party at all costs” the National Party is not getting a wad of used gum out of me!
When they send me a dunning I often make a “retaliatory contribution” to West or some other TEA compatible Conservative that National is going to hang out to twist in the wind in stead just to spite them.
There is a liberal, gay Republican in Massataxes they would rather fund that Allen West and Bachmann.
Giving money to the RNC is a waste, put the money toward conservative candidates.
Dump those resources into PA, MI, MN, OH, CO.
