As President Obama and Mitt Romney enter the closing week of the presidential race, where the 18 electoral votes of Ohio are seen by both sides as critical to victory, Mr. Obama's ability to prevent erosion among working-class voters may be his best path to re-election.
In Ohio, according to the latest poll of likely voters by Quinnipiac University/New York Times/CBS News, Mr. Obama runs nearly even with Mr. Romney among white voters who do not have college degrees.
That helps explain why he appears slightly better positioned there in the closing week of the campaign than in Florida and Virginia, where the polls found that Mr. Romney holds an advantage of about 30 percentage points among those voters.

While some White Union members support Obama/Democrats, it's only for the money (like Prostitution!). But even then, they are screwing themselves in the long run...
I am pretty skeptical that with the same type of voters in one state Romney is +30 and in OH he is magically “even” with Obama. I don’t believe that the most important issue to working class voters in OH would be the auto bailout which _has already occurred_ enough to swing things 30 points. I think this is the perils of cross tabs.
I thought the entire argument for why Romney might win the popular vote but lose the EV is something to do with Romney doing so well with white voters. I do think there is some truth that Romney performs better with affluent suburban voters than most Republicans, so it is possible he will perform like Bush, Sr. did in ‘88. That would make PA a promising state, even if OH was a bit more challenging.
Parts of Ohio are characterized as unionized whereas I don’t think that is true for Virginia except maybe northern Virginia which may have large numbers of unionized government workers.
If 4 years isn’t enough. This is like waiting for uncle lou to come alive after being dead for 4 years.
The working class hopefully will not elect this moron again. There is nothing there.
Last week, OHIO BASED auto-parts manufacturer Dana Holding Corporation warned employees of potential layoffs amid looming concern about the economy. President and CEO Roger Wood specifically mentioned the walloping burden of increasing taxes on small businesses and the need to offset increased costs that are placed on us through new laws and regulations.
OHIO ARE YOU LISTENING?
I am in Northern Va. and there are more Romney signs up than Obama. at least in Fairfax City.
Come on... what do you think that it is?
The non-thinking, lazy man’s guide to voting for Obama...
1. Pappy, Gran Pappy, and Great Gran Pappy all voted D. It’s good enough for me.
2. The union hall tells me who to vote for.
3. I will need the 99 weeks of unemployment benefits, free health care, disability checks and an ObamaFone when my union job moves to China.
4. Communists are good and make life fair for everybody. They are building a worker’s paradise.
Couple the fools in Unions with the inner-city-tribal parasites, and you have MORE than enough votes in OH to swing it to The Messiah, and every other (D) on the ballot.
Obama was quoted this summer as writing off White working class men, while cobbling together his coalition of dependents: Blacks, single women, university professors, government workers.
And now, at the last minute, they are going to flock to him? Other than the brain-dead union members who are on the government teat, I can’t think of any reason for White working-class men to vote for this bigoted president.
