W.Va. Democrats unload on Obama EPA over new layoffs in coal industry

West Virginia Democrats are “outraged” with President Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency, which has now cost the jobs of nearly 150 coal miners in the state.

Energy giant Consol announced Tuesday that it will idle its surface mining operations in Mingo County after failing to secure necessary Clean Water Act permits from the EPA.

Democrats in the state, already angry with the administration’s “war on coal,” unloaded on the EPA on Tuesday afternoon.

“I am incensed and infuriated that the EPA would intentionally delay the needed permit for a public-private project that would bring so many good jobs and valuable infrastructure to communities that so desperately need them,” West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin said in a statement.

Mr. Manchin has been one of the loudest critics of Mr. Obama’s environmental policy. He skipped this year’s Democratic convention, and, in one of his campaign commercials, literally shot a hole through the controversial cap-and-trade bill.

“Mr. Manchin has been one of the loudest critics of Mr. Obama’s environmental policy.”

...which he could have stopped at any time by defying Harry Reid.
But Harry’s his boss, not the people of WV. They’re just the people he lies to.

West VA is a Romney lock. Coal is king there and Obama’s anti-coal policies are unpopular in the Mountain State.

Exactly. Manchin is all talk and NO action. He pulls these stunts like going on TV and complaining about the EPA and shooting a bullet through the Obamacare regulations. But then when it counts, he is as loyal a Democrat as there can be. Most importantly, he votes for Harry Reid as Senate leader, and then Reid bottles up any bill that would stop the EPA or the War on Coal. West Virginia voters need to wake up to this game, but it doesn’t look like they are going to.

A lot of blue collar Democrats think their party is like in FDR’s time despite the fact its changed.

This is the way their grandparents and parents voted and its the way they vote. West VA is a paradox - its a Blue State at the state level but its a Red State in presidential election years.

You would think that this would matter in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately if it does, the 110% of voting in Philly will counter it.

And now what is your choice? King Obama, the job killer, or Romney, the job maker.

The Pennsylvania Ping List will be hosting an FR All You Can Eat dinner on 07 November.

You'll need only bring a side dish for the buffet, as the entree - Roast Crow - will be provided.

There'll be no charge for this sumptuous feast, but an Integrity ID will be required for admittance.

Get over it, chump.

Odds are you voted for him, and you knew then what everyone did.

You’re right. Another factor is the long term control of state government functions by Democrats. People will register as Democrats as one of the unwritten requirements to get a local job for example with the highway department.

Maybe in another generation it might change with a negative factor being the poor quality of education.

Good question. I’ve also wondered if we should not win a majority in the Senate, there is the possibility that enough, fed up dems, would switch to rep and give it to us plus kick dingy harry reid out as majority leader.

All these stories of the democrat vote being suppressed is BS. Truth is a lot of these democrats have turned independent or republican after the liberals finally got around to their ox to gore!!!

I don’t really understand why that state has Ds at all anymore. I know union influence, but it’s coal miners, and what do Ds hate more than GWB and Sarah Palin? Coal...dirty or “clean,” it powers society therefore is the heart of evil. GWB and Palin are only the it’s carcass to them. When the go they’ll find some other person to hate, but coal will always be around.

The “war on coal” based on the global warming lie makes as much sense as the ‘war on oranges’ based on the unicorn lie...
