People along the battered U.S. East Coast slowly began reclaiming their daily routines Thursday, even as crews searched for victims and tens of thousands remained without power after superstorm Sandy claimed more than 70 lives.
SNIP-----
Tempers flared. A man screamed at emergency officials in Hoboken about why food and water had not been delivered to residents just a few blocks away. The man, who would not give his name, said he blew up an air mattress to float over to a staging area.

“Its only been a couple of days this fool should have had enough canned goods to last him that long”
Probably they do, but they weren’t smart enough to realize that am electric can opener wasn’t much good with no power. Or that a $20 propane stove might come in handy one day.
Hoboken is a very wealthy bedroom community for wall streeters. I think Corzine lives there. The waterfront condos are $1MM +. The waterfront is where the flooding is. Very liberal, very wealthy, very spoiled.
P-38 ping!
What about all those trees downed. Firewood!
I would think that enough people have seen some of those TV series of after a disaster, even without zombies people are constantly dirty, thirsty and cold.
There was probably some small amount of education learned in those shows. First off the Feds will collapse, the strong survive especially those with evil inside them, the good often don’t have the balls to deal with evil because they have been indoctrinated for years to not fight back.
To survive one must be mentally prepared for the worst scenario, every minute, every day, combat mode in effect, the weal either will man up....
Or die. They can drag down the strong ones just like a crazed drowning victim.
In summary I strongly suggest everyone adapt to a complete and total independence way of survival, because in a really bad situation there will be nobody to cry for help to. You will have to figure out how to survive, how to defend yourself if necessary and how to reconstruct a better society.
Never keep all your eggs in one basket.
A couple of caches of supplies for a couple of days, a bugout bag set for 72 hours (and yes, that's 25 lbs of water, too--for one, in cool weather) can make a huge difference.
I carry a couple on my person, and have taught all the grandkids to use them when I gave them one of their own.
I bet preppers in flood areas suddenly consider having inflatable lifeboats in their closets now, especially covered ones that van be used as sleeping quarters on or off dry land.
Though I do not fear flooding at the least where I live I would consider a lifeboat as an emergency shelter in inclement weather, thats the covered types that would be ideal in heavy rain or even some snow.

Back to normal ?
Here on Long Island 90% have no power, tv or internet - I’m posting from work.
Gasoline is now becoming a problem, very few have gasoline or the power to pump it, those that do have hours long waits.
Sewers are starting to back up into the streets and the military is now guarding the bridges to Long beach, Atlantic Beach and other areas (due to looters).
Supermarkets have no power either and no perishables, and shelves are empty in a lot of stores.
You missed the point the are by FAR more people that are just without power, water, communications and access to those things and supplies than there are people who’s houses have been completely destroyed. If the people like that have the ability to take care of themselves for a few days how much more does that leave for those who lost all? I also think you underestimate preppers, if they thought far enough ahead to prep, don’t you think they would think far enough ahead to protect their preps? If you buy a gun for protection isn’t it a given that you would think far enough ahead to have ammunition for the weapon and training on how to use it?
I pray that God see you through this time of trouble.

Looking at the TV coverage this morning it was starting to look like Katrina after a couples of days. Where’s FEMA?
FEMA is probably negotiating with the unions to see who will deliver the emergency supplies.

The AP is giving false information about the recovery here.
There are millions at this moment without power, not tens of thousands.
And I see no mention of the tens of thousands who have a foot or more of water in their house. That would anybody who is below 12-15 feet above sea level on the entire coast of LI, NYC and NJ down to AC.
The media is hiding the slow recovery just like they are hiding Behghazi just before the election.
And we have even some Freepers here who are falling for it.
There are FEMA people down by Atlantic Beach and Long Beach on the South Shore of Long Island - from what I am told by family members, they are taking claims, seeing what people need, etc.
Amen brother. Tell these folks the truth about what's going on here.
I can’t see what going on in the news (no tv or internet at home - only at work), but things are now moving from bad to worse.
The radio is not reporting how it really is starting to get, all they talk about is that fat bastard Christie & Obama - and now 0bama is off to Las Vegas again.
