U.S. yanks support for Syrian opposition group, warns of extremist takeover of uprising
Washington Post ^

ZAGREB, Croatia — The Obama administration on Wednesday renounced the proclaimed leaders of the Syrian political opposition and said any group seeking to oust President Bashar al-Assad must reject attempts by extremists to “hijack” a legitimate revolution.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the Syrian National Council, or SNC, should no longer be considered the “visible leader” of the opposition. That made official what has been the increasingly obvious sidelining of an opposition group led mostly by middle-age Syrian expatriates.

No ma’am, just a coinky-dink

To think we the people have entrusted losers like Mrs Bill Clinton and obama and his passport cleaners promoted to security advisors, to sort out the good guys from the bad guys in the islamo world

WOW! Did they finally realize that backing Al-Qaida wasn’t such a good idea? What a joke of an Executive Branch!

This way Obama can throw his full support behind the Muslim Brotherhood which was the plan all along. Obama doesn’t want a legitimate government in Syria or anywhere else. He wants the same global Caliphate that the MB wants.

We’ve been saying that extremists would take over since the Tunisian uprising something like 2 years ago.

Ruh roh! They’ve (opposition group) got our weapons, so no more support is necessary...in other words, no more gun running by the Bowbama admin!

Duh. They’re finally figuring it out? After most of the middle east is under militant Islamist control, compliments of Obama and Hillary...just what Obama hoped to accomplish.

I am just wondering what this Whitehouse considers a “legitimate revolution.” Those are some chilling words right there.

0bama supplied al Qaeda in Syria with Ghaddafi’s weapons, including MANPADS (man-portable anti-aircraft missiles).

Ambassador Stevens was assassinated for his trouble of helping do that.

NOW they want to declare al Qaeda in Syria a problem?

Katie bar the door!

(Wait, the horses are already out of the barn!)

Clinton/Obama have determined that al Qaeda
ALREADY has the 20,000 MANPADS and other chemical
weapons the Obama Regime sent to them.

Another DNC/Obama - “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED”

That doesn’t make sense.

If the Ambassador supplied weapons to Al Qaeda in Syria, why would Al Qaeda in Libya want to kill him?.

By the way...... the weapons in question were not smuggled, they were transported.

When you read the article, you see that this has nothing to do with “yanking support” from a terrorist group. The people in the SNC are mostly older exiles still living outside of Syria, and don’t seem to be very radical at all, for the most part. Hillary’s objection to them is that they aren’t “respected” by the “militants” and “on-the-ground activists and fighters.” In other words, they’re probably too moderate.

So instead of trying to forge a moderate alliance and looking for a political solution to the problems with Assad, she’s promoting even more fragmentation and enhancing a situation in which the “on-the-ground activists and fighters” (read Islamist militants) will have even more power. In a few months, if they get rid of Assad, even the people who didn’t like him are going to be yearning for his return, because they’re sure not going to like the AQ government they’re going to get thanks to our complete mishandling of the whole thing.

And we’re going to wish for him back, too, because at least he had a stable government and we could, to some extent, put pressure on him. But when we turn Syria into another lawless state, we’ll have no leverage.

Our foreign policy should be governed by what’s best for the US, but under the Dems, it never is.

The only real democratic government in the area that embraces Western ideals of freedom is Israel. Obama is perfectly content to bow down to any Islamist group that pops up, while ignoring our only true friend in the region.
