ScienceDaily (Nov. 1, 2012) — New research from the University of South Carolina provides fresh evidence that choosing a candidate may depend largely on our biological make-up. That's because the brains of self-identified Democrats and Republicans are hard-wired differently and may be naturally inclined to hold varying, if not opposing, perceptions and values. This study showed a strong link with broad social connectedness with Democrats, and a strong link with tight social connectedness with Republicans.
With the U.S. presidential election just days away, new research from the University of South Carolina provides fresh evidence that choosing a candidate may depend more on our biological make-up than a careful analysis of issues.
That's because the brains of self-identified Democrats and Republicans are hard-wired differently and may be naturally inclined to hold varying, if not opposing, perceptions and values. The USC study, which analyzed MRI scans of 24 USC students, builds on existing research in the emerging field of political neuroscience.

Democrats tend to be more global and Republicans more America-centric but it actually runs counter to other recent research indicating Democrats enjoyed a virtual biological lock on caring for others.
That Democrats have an innate proclivity on caring for others is one the most egregious canards of all time. Causes of behavioral manifestations are the result of various, disparate, unrelated characteristics, biological,social, environmental easily misinterpreted.
For example, someone who appears as shy, labeled, left as such, could very well be the victim of, say, Autism.
So is the myth of people who are consider themselves left-wing, liberal Democrats. What is universally accepted as unassailable that Democrats enjoy a virtual biological lock on caring for others, a manifestation as easily misinterpreted, misguided, given credence to, as behavior, the effects of Autism has been, is mistakenly attributable to simple shyness. Dig deeper into the mechanistic underpinnings as to why Democrats, left-wing liberals, "care" for others so much and you get a much uglier, sinister grasp for behavior that is pathological in its motivation to "help" others. Megalomania, Sociopath, narcissism, egocentricism, mania, low-self esteem, poor self image, schizophrenia, personality disorder, the need for deification, underpinnings for psychiatric conditions such as "Messiah Complex", the helping, caring of others of which ultimately serves no one greater than the interest, of the left-wing, liberal, Democrat self, ego.
Understanding the mechanistic underpinnings for left-wing, liberal behavior and you begin the pathology of the demented mind of the left wing liberal mindset and you begin to unravel why Democrats favor budget deficits,overwhelming emphasis on ever increasing social programs, the bigger the better, more people, more money, the more to satisfy, massage the wholly dysfunctional ego, self, skewed self-image of its victims as demonstrated by the country's chief sociopath teling sixty minutes he sees himself as the fourth greatest president in American history. Enough said.
So, please spare me the bullsh*t philanthropic altruism about left-wing liberal's lock on what has nothing to do with helping others.

WHat i take from this article is simply that dens (or libs if you prefer) are shallow......they care about those things which require nothing of them...those things which are ill defined and far away. Conservatives on the other hand care about the things that have the most value in life (family country etc)...those things nearest and dearest to the HUMAN heart ....hence conservatives have depth.

Political beliefs are the result of one's STATE-OF-MIND! The traditional route of political metamorphosis is to go from the Democrat ledger to the Republican one.
No one chastises a child for seeing the way the world can be cruel and wishing that "something should be done." Compassion is a vital part of a civilized society. Eventually though, including many on this board, after years of not only hearing "what should be done" via school, family members, Dem politicians, there is that tipping point where one reviews all the solutions that have been put into action and realizing that not only is the original problem worse but the solution has introduced new problems to "fix." Not to mention the complete perversion of the golden standard of equal rights vs. the lead standard of equal results. You can't award a group right (gender, race, ethnicity, income, etc.) without taking away someone's corresponding individual right. Once a Democrat has that realization they are are off to the conservative races.
The bottom line is to believe this study is to ignore the sane and perfectly healthy conversion of millions of former Donkeys into Elephants.
