Mitt Romney will campaign in Pennsylvania on Sunday, the first time he's campaigned in the state in many weeks, a Romney campaign official told The Hill.
Romney's campaign has been increasingly bullish about its prospects in the state, launching its first ad there earlier this week. A number of GOP outside groups have also bought millions of dollars in airtime for the final push there. Obama's campaign has scoffed at Romney's push in Pennsylvania and other states they previously haven't contested, although they are investing in ads to combat the GOP outside group's efforts.

Romney wants to try to sew up PA. I think he can get it and the fact he’s scheduling a campaign stop there Sunday says the Romney Campaign feels that its internal polling is very good!
If nothing else, its a head fake to leave Obama guessing about what happens on Tuesday.
YES!!! I saw the question marks on Romney’s schedule for Sunday earlier in the day. I was hoping he would come here. Hammer, nail, coffin ... time to put Obama in a grave.
I was figuring NV or OR for Sunday, but I like the PA trip a hell of a lot more.
Hell by Sunday the residents of NJ may be so fed up with the FEMA response that it will influence their voting :)

They’re not going to win PA. Their final push is better spent on states that they both need and can win.
I would run some ads here since they have more money than Obama, just to throw Obama off course and force Obama to spend money in a state he wouldn’t otherwise spend it in. Ads can be run in many states simultaneously, but coming here is a waste of valuable time since you can only be in one place at one time.

I think PA is a better state for Romney than OH. Twice as many suburbanites. Ma and Pa in the Volvo have stopped drinking the Kool Aid.

I think the Romney campaign is in a better position to make that judgement. The have better information than we do.
The registration edge here is D+13. Among active registrations, it’s D+12 (considered active by PA Dept of State as of 10/15/2012.) I think a realistic model for election day is D+8 or D+9. If the polls are anywhere near correct, it’s going to be close.
Romney also doing well in Oregon. He’s only down 3 in the latest poll and he hasn’t even been there.

THis is the state that elected Pat Toomey and Tom Corbett in 2010. That momo has only increased.
That’s exactly what Barone said earlier. Romney has struggled in Ohio because they’re aren’t as many affluent suburanites there as in the other swing states. What I want to know is if he’s going to PA because OH is safe, or because he needs an insurance policy against OH. Having that knowledge would tell you exactly where the race is at this point in time. I have to think he’s going there because Ohio is safe. Otherwise, I would expect him to use that time making a play for WI, and another state that, when combined, can replace OH.
PA fits both of those criteria. While OH is probably Romney's (at least he is confident it is), it's too uncertain to count on.

One complicating factor (besides assessing the LV model, which is hard everywhere) is that PA is a closed primary state, so the registration edge is not as definitive among middle-of-the-roaders, who might have changed party affiliation but not changed official party registration, as it is in states with open primaries.

They have poured 6 million into TV in PA this week. Time to close the deal.
Well just that McCain had the same kind of optimism and he diverted a lot of resources there and ended up losing by 10 points. That state has been fools gold for years.

For Romney, the odds are better than they have been for a GOP presidential candidate for a long time. And he has nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Making a campaign stop there Sunday costs him nothing and can bring him a lot of votes.
It should be glaringly obvious by now that Romney is no McCain. If Mitt thinks it’s worth the time and money, I say go for it.
Mitt is finishing up Monday night in NH. He will be in Manchester with Kid Rock with a crowd of about 15,000:)
I heard that Romney is planning on going to New Hampshire on Monday, but of course these sort of schedules can change. I don’t know if he has any other place planned for that day or not.
I think the news about PA is great. I’d especially like to see him push hard on Wisconsin, though, since that one is clearly even more winnable.
Oregon is finished. 100% vote by mail.
PA has no early voting. So last minute surge wins it.

Questions is, do they really have enough other swing states nailed down to guarantee their election?
If so, I love it. If not, and this is just a head fake, then this move will be second-guessed like you wouldn’t believe.
They have the data, and I don’t, so I’m going to trust them on this one and interpret this as a very positive development.
Great point. The key, I read, were the ‘burbs around Philly. If R/R can generate the turnout they expect, PA is more than in-play!

McCain was desperate and had exhausted all reasonable possibilities of an electoral college win. He was hoping against hope to find some traction elsewhere and gambled on PA.
That is not even remotely close to the situation we have today.
Chuck Todd says desperation. He is trying to get something since he is losing Ohio. MSNBC is really hard to watch, but I cant help it :)

The only early voting in PA is absentee voting. Lots of PA folks are left to go to the polls on Tuesday... I'm hoping that Romney can flip a few more our way in Eastern PA over the weekend.

So true. Big question: Do you switch from FOX to MSNBC 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes or 10 minutes after FOX calls it for Romney? I’ve been debating this scenario with myself. The issue is how much pure jubilation do you want versus pure schadenfreude?
MesSNBC will be great fun to watch Tuesday night.
