Barack Obama faces not one but two perfect storms. He actually may be grateful for the meteorological one if it predictably helps obscure the political one at least for the next week.
Hurricane Sandy is, of course, a disaster no one would welcome. Untold numbers of Americans are having their lives endangered, or at least severely disrupted, and the potential economic harm is unimaginable at this point.
The president could nonetheless see a silver lining in this horrific weather event. For one thing, he gets to posture as the leader of the nation in a terrible time of testing, the one to dole out federal emergency assistance and the great consoler around whom we instinctively rally in such circumstances.
Perhaps more importantly for Team Obama, many voters are going to have many other things on their minds for the next few, critical days instead of thinking about the evidence that their commander in chief was seriously derelict regarding the murderous attack in Benghazi, Libya. The presidents re-election bid cannot afford in the closing days of a putatively very close election to have his fraudulent claim to successful stewardship of the national security portfolio become as exposed as his dismal economic record.
It remains to be seen, however, if Frankenstorm Sandy will do more than simply defer the day of reckoning for Mr. Obama. Whether it occurs on Nov. 6 or afterward, the rising popular revulsion at what happened in Libya on Sept. 11, 2012, and the Obama administrations dissembling, deflections and outright lies in the weeks that followed should blow this presidency away...

Thanks for the post & link.
My take is that Zero received an ultimatum from the Russians that their proxies were going to shut down the gunrunning operation by force and he'd better not lift a finger to stop it. Zero caved. He either fell for the bluff or we came that close to WWIII.
I tried reading everything about Benghazi for weeks and now have given up. There’s too much to read.
I still try to sort of keep up. I wish someone would write summaries!
I’ve wondered about them too.
Maggief and Travis - did you see the above? What do you think?
Imagine if thirty four American personnel had been killed in this now admitted terrorist attack, and Obama’s cover-up/response had been the same... would America’s mounting outrage been greater... sooner?
If the two former Navy Seals had not disobeyed their reported orders to stand down... that would likely have been the outcome. Or perhaps all would be hostages in a Tehran-like incident.
There is plenty more to this very rotten smelling story than we have heard so far... obviously. And, with the misleadership of Obama, it is all likely to happen again and again. Vote for Romney, and we can hopefully lift the cover-up and get to the bottom of this fetid mess.
Here is another Benghazi article - haven’t seen it posted on FR.
Thanks for the ping!
I agree with you. Sandy hurts -bama big time, by distracting the Dem voters and unplugging them from the “energy” of -bama. His “playing president” for a couple days does not fool anyone else, and hurts his base’s excitement. Everyone knows that he is ONLY using Sandy to play politics.
I believe strongly that the analysis two weeks from now will be that -bama and the rest of the Dem ticket really was hammered by Sandy, especially in the storm area.
Meanwhile, Moochelle is giving speeches at two black colleges today. -bama drew a crowd numbering 2800 where 15,000 were expected today.
And Romney is going to WI, and into PA where he and his supporters have dumped 10M$ for this last week.
Right now we’re looking not only to win, but to run up the score.
Ah - another thing: I believe it was Portman who yesterday on FNC stated:
“In OH, the GOP has 20 times as many volunteers going door to door this year than in 2008”.
I wonder how this compares with Zero?
Good read, thanks.
