'NO RED TAPE'? NEW JERSEY TURNS AWAY NON-UNION RELIEF CREWS
Breitbart ^ | 11/2/12 | Joel Pollack

Posted on 11/01/2012 10:30:28 PM PDT by KansasGirl

How desperate is hurricane-ravaged New Jersey? Not desperate enough to suspend a union monopoly that keeps the state in the bottom ten states for economic competitiveness (and #48 for business friendliness). Relief crews from Alabama who were specifically called to New Jersey found themselves diverted to Long Island, NY after they arrived because they use non-union labor. Alabama is a right to work state.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WAFF-TV of Hunstville, AL reports:

Crews from Huntsville, as well as Decatur Utilities and Joe Wheeler out of Trinity headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees....

Understandably, Moore said they're frustrated being told "thanks, but no thanks."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With so much at stake--and lives still in danger--it would seem logical to tell special interests to step aside.

On Wednesday, while visiting cleanup efforts in New Jersey in the company of Gov. Chris Christie, President Barack Obama vowed: "We are not going to tolerate red tape, we are not going to tolerate bureaucracy."

Unless, of course, that red tape is enforced by Obama's union cronies. Then stranded residents have to wait. Here is a photo of the devastation of the town the crews were to have assisted--Seaside Heights, NJ:

Unions are scum—but thanks for the Hunstville, AL. crew heading for Long Island where I still have family that needs power restored to homes. We appreciate their help.

Jersey is getting what they deserve..
Unions are toxic and getting even more toxic..
FREEDOM can only be in a right to work, State..

Even right to work States can be freedom-LESS..
Much of America is committing economic suicide..

A certain Candidate should mention this in his speeches this weekend

The liberal states and cities do this all the time with their local minimum wages and their prevailing wage laws- “prevailing wages” are just a statutory mirror image of union wages and rules.

Every day they are making wonderful government cost more and do less for the citizens. It’s just magnified in a crisis, but they will cover this up.

The day the unions decided that the union was more important than the people they were hired to serve is the day that unions should have been abolished and their contracts voided. Period.

Unfortunately these relatives are politically ignorant. Hate to say that about my own mother but she’s working 24/7 running a small business so she doesn’t follow the news.

I feel bad about this but I told my mother not to vote since she doesn’t really follow politics.

That’s ok. Most of those people shivering in the dark are Dems anyway, and vote in the POS’s that create most of their problems. No accounting for stupid.

Hard to feel sorry for the people of New Jersey.

They were warned not to throw their lot in with the Unions.

Most in New Jersey laughed at the warnings.

“They didn’t build that”, because Obama’s union buddies wouldn’t let them. I guess the union thugs didn’t get the memo (or couldn’t read it) about putting priority on solving the problem rather than following the rules.

If you don’t mind - where are you - generally, if you’d rather.
I have a sister and brother about a half mile from each other in Shirley. They seemed to have been spared.

I was Manhattan-born, raised on Long Island in Huntington, East Northport, and Plainview/Hicksville.
In CA. 43 years now.

Hey Alabama:

I'm from New Jersey, and the next time anyone tells you they need your assistance here to help in a disaster recovery, just tell them to "f#%& off."

We saw the same sh!t in the recovery effort after 9/11, which is one reason why it's more than 11 years later and Ground Zero still hasn't been restored.

You say this if it’s a bad thing.

Being a do as your told without the right to do what’s right doesnt make sense to me .

I’m in NJ and have no grudge for those
non union workers.
Having them spread across the state this cost us maybe an hour or two extra wait. Like that’s gonna make a real difference. And I’m sure they won’t loose any sleep over it.
At least they won’t get bit in the ass
like their fellow union workers.
Kind of like denied getting on the plane moments before it explodes.

they pulled this business before too, back at the original 9/11 people from all over the country went to
twin towers to help & they were practically run out on a rail because they were non union !!! After
hearing about that much of my sympathy for the *union workers* that came down with 9/11 lung
diseases & cancer was seriously mitigated. I never saw those Union clean up people wearing
respirators like they should have been, where was the important health advice from Union Stewards to
the rank & file, good job protecting your due payers guys!
