Books will be written about what happened, but early on the president made two terrible legislative decisions. The stimulus bill was a political disaster, and it wasn't the cost, it was the content. We were in crisis, losing jobs. People would have accepted high spending if it looked promising. But the stimulus was the same old same old, pure pork aimed at reliable constituencies. It would course through the economy with little effect. And it would not receive a single Republican vote in the House (three in the Senate), which was bad for Washington, bad for our politics. It was a catastrophic victory. It did say there was a new boss in town. But it also said the new boss was out of his league.
Then health care, a mistake beginning to end. The president's 14-month-long preoccupation with ObamaCare signaled that he did not share the urgency of people's most immediate concerns—jobs, the economy, all the coming fiscal cliffs. The famous 2,000-page bill added to their misery by adding to their fear.
Voters would have had to trust the president a lot to believe his program wouldn't raise their premiums, wouldn't limit their autonomy, wouldn't make a shaky system worse.
But they didn't trust him that much, because they'd just met him. They didn't really know him.

Agree. Obama is no mystery and he showed his Marxist credentials during the 2008 campaign to anyone who bothered to pay attention. What’s missing is how Obama came to his Marxist idealogy. That mystery can be solved once his college and personal records are uncovered.

Peggy points out that Obama was screwing up from Day 1. That really does say something about how stupid and vapid she is for supporting him.
If Sandy had happened a week or two earlier, giving the victims and their sympathizers more time to get angry at the government’s ineffective relief efforts, Obama would lose in a landslide. The storm’s timing was fortunate for him. he got to look presidential, while the bureaucratic screw ups won’t be made public until after the election.

I never know whether to laugh or shake my head when I read articles like this. Noonan is correct in that Obama got it wrong with the stimulus and Obamacare (and everything else, but I digress). What I don’t get is how anyone could be surprised by it. Obama’s governance has been pretty much exactly what I expected it to be, I’m sorry to say.
Obama will be the biggest failure because he started with so much hope.

All someone with half a brain had to know about Barack Hussein Obama was this:

Styrofoam columns, Victory party in the park, Stimulus, ObamaCare, Bin Laden - it's all about him. Nothing but him. Him and only him.
Even in meetings, no matter how large or small, he has to have his name on a placard with the "President of the United States" title under his name.

He shows up in an Air Force One flight jacket with "Barack Obama Commander-in-Chief" nametag.
At least George W. Bush, if need be, could take the controls of AF-1. The only thing Obama is qualified to operate on the plane is the toilet.
