Yes. The main reason the races they put on have risen so much in price is that the city now charges them for police services.

And considering this is NEW YORK CITY, natural disasters like this jsut don't happen in the northeast, the coverage should be even more intense. Compare this to the media on Bush after Katrina.
On the other hand, with the heavily democrat and cheating-stronghold precincts under water and the people too busy digging out to vote, maybe the state will break for Romney.

Shortly after the cancelation announcement was made, the group posted the following message to their page:

The “Marathon of Relief” group made a similar announcement:
We are glad to hear the news that the City has decided to cancel the NYC marathon. Now we get to fully focus our efforts on a marathon of volunteers!
