In New York’s Public Housing, Fear Creeps In With the Dark
The New York Times ^ | November 2, 2012 | CARA BUCKLEY and MICHAEL WILSON

Posted on 11/03/2012 7:29:44 PM PDT by Errant

It would be dark soon at the Coney Island Houses, the fourth night without power, elevators and water. Another night of trips up and down pitch-black staircases, lighted by shaky flashlights and candles. Another night of retreating from the dark.

"Some vented their anger despite the presence of volunteers who showed up with ice, water and food" You do NOT bite the hand that feeds you. You say thank you and ask if you can help them.

Wanna bet? That is the whole basis of the Democrat Party today. They don't just want to suck on your wallet, they also despise you and hate you and want to ruin you while they do it.

Cities are inherently dangerous places. In an emergency you can become trapped inside with no way out.

I never had that problem living in Appalachian NC. It may be a mile or so to the nearest neighbor, but you’re not easily caught in a situation where you cannot leave.

When the power went out for a week or so, we used lanterns and a woodstove. We kept enough homecanned food on hand to do us a few weeks.

Didn’t Obama fix FEMA? This sounds like New Orleans and Katrina.

I would NOT want to spend the night there. That’s for sure! I feel sorry for those that are.

After reading this article and a couple of linked articles, I can’t see how Bloomberg is going to justify not calling in the National Guard. In addition to providing security, food, and water, it sounds like a lot of those old people there need transport to someplace they can get medical care. How could a mayor abandoned his people to these conditions? What a useless sack of crap.

You mean the Federal Elitist Moron Agency? No, he broke it even more when he put his communist cronies in charge.

Soda doesn’t go bad if it’s not chilled.

Mayor Bloomberg is one of those elitist morons mentioned above. He is taking a disaster and turning it into a catastrophe due to his incompetence.

I wouldn’t be surprised if xenomorphs were found hiding in the NYC subway tunnels.

Especially the Internet version. Select your city of choice (eg NOLA, NYC, London, Paris...).

Stay away from the subways unless you have a pulse rifle! Preferably equiped with a field expedient flame thrower.

Living in public housing - day or night would be like a living hell!!

Some of these folks do this for generations, with no motivation to do better for themselves & thier families.

That means, in the bottle or can. If sealed well it does not spoil, though it still has an optimum taste shelf life.

I couldn't do it. Some of the folks who had to leave NOLA had never ventured much outside their city block.

Probably couldn't handle not being around others either. It's life outside the city for me. I just like to visit every now and then.
