Since the announcement of what is now familiarly termed, “the HHS mandate,” Catholics and Christians of other denominations have denounced the ObamaCare provision that demands that most employers, including those associated with churches, grant free contraception, sterilization procedures, and abortion-inducing drugs to their employees through their health insurance plans.
This coercion to violate faith beliefs in order to satisfy government requirements has led to a veritable onslaught of litigation by Catholic dioceses and institutions, the institutions of other Christian denominations, and individual business owners. As Barack Obama attempts to be elected to a second term, he is faced with 38 lawsuits and over 110 individuals from around the country who represent those whose religious liberty is being challenged by the mandate.
In the swing state of Colorado, a group of lay Catholics has placed a full-page ad in the Sunday edition of the Denver Post to drive home the significance of religious liberty in Tuesday’s election. Regarding the ad, J.D. Flynn, chancellor of the Denver archdiocese, said, “I think the folks who organized getting the ad together want to ensure everybody understands what’s at stake not only for the Church, but for the country, when religious liberty is compromised.”

Catholics had damned well better realize that the current administration hates Christians and especially Catholics.
Not that it’s gonna do any good hereabouts, but my priest went on and on about the Healthcare bill, about abortion, about sanctity of life. I applaud him for being so clear about Catholic teaching.

We’re having an all-night prayer vigil here in St Augustine. Our bishop was born in Cuba and fled when he was 16 (having lived through the horrors of Fidel and Che) and he is very, very worried about this election.
"In the Catholic Tradition, responsible citizenship is a virtue, and participation in political life is a moral obligation." As Catholics, we should be guided more by our moral convictions than by our attachment to a political party or interest group. (snip) While the Church does not endorse any party or candidate, Catholic Bishops have asked that we support individuals who respect our religion and the right of Americans not to have their religious beliefs infringed upon or minimized."
The bulletin also included a Prayer Before an Election and another Prayer After An Election. It concluded with the statement: Tuesday, November 6 is Election Day. Please remember to vote! Also included in the bulletin was a separate brochure entitled: In the Voting Booth - A Catholic Perspective. It was produced by Our Sunday Visitor.

In my diocese we have quite a few 24-hour Adoration Chapels-—if things go as they often do, I expect to see quite a few people in these chapels

Fwiw, our priest went on an election rant. Main message was,”don’t vote for the platform that supports SSM and abortion .”
He truly is a blessing!
Obama’s actions and those of his supporters have brought me closer to God in general, and closer to the Church that I “left” years ago in particular than I think anything else ever could have at this point in my life. I still have yet to “come back” to the Church “officially” (meet with my priest and give a long confession), but I’m working my way there.
I definitely feel attacked by this administration and all of those who are speaking ill of Catholics specifically, and Christians in general. It is definitely an attack of a spiritual nature as the venom from people is palpable in many, many cases - people who otherwise are NOT like that. In many cases they can’t even form coherent debate of the topic at hand.
Unfortunately, many have drifted beyond works-based righteousness to the advocacy-based righteousness promised by the humanist left.
Maybe if Scott Brown didn’t beat us over the head with his “Pro-Choice” views we’d have been the for him.
Catholics decided not to do anything in CT. Concerning the election. It is a lot of trouble ... politics here is complicated and unpleasant.
So we did other things. Such as the pancake breakfast and plan for the Christmas bazaar.
Regardless of who wins, the winner will serve in the office. Send postcards to the winner urging them to oppose FOCA.
Anyway, I gotta go trespass into some apartment buildings to drop flyers for my candidate. Pray that I don’t trip and fall and end up getting arrested ... or nobody gets my license plate number.
He stated that as Christians we cannot compromise of principles, specifically: (1) Every child has the right to be born; (2) Marriage is only between one man and one woman for life; (3) Human rights and liberty come only from God, not government.
Although he did not mention either candidate by name, his instruction was clear, and I was very pleased to hear it.
