Right there. He did not use the bully pulpit to go around the press. Reagan did this masterfully.

Jesus didn’t defend himself either.

I wouldn't mess with him.

Hate to say it, but GWB ‘gave birth’ to Obama.

As if. The 2010 Congress of Reid-Pelosi and the corrupt banking scam of Barney Frank gave us the sabotaged economy that yielded us Baraq Hussein Ubama, the man without a past and a red indoctrinated childhood with total hatred of this nation.

"if not for Bush"

McCain-Palin were actually leading Obama-Biden in a number of polls six weeks before the election. Then came the financial crisis chiefly caused by actions taken under the Clinton admin. But virtually all libs and a few ignorant conservatives blame Bush for the crisis. Obama took the lead after the meltdown. That's what won him the election...falsely blaming Bush for the crisis. Read Tom Sowell's "The Housing Boom and Bust" to get a truthful account of what caused the housing and financial crisis.

I blame Bush for the bank bailouts, “no child left behind,” and the Medicare Rx drug benefit. Ignorant voters could not see a difference.

Richard Nixon was a great statesman.

Absolutely. It was not paranoia, Nixon could see the marxist influence creeping into the democrat party and tried to stop it. He was ultimately set up and defeated by his enemies.

Eventually the true democrats became republicans or retired as the soul of their party turned to socialism/marxism. We are now in a pitched battle for the soul of the country. Are the people going to own the government or is the government going to own the people?

Could you describe for me the terror attacks on the us after 911?

I don’t think there were any attacks and I think an ungrateful nation reaped the rewards of bush’s steady leadership defending this nation.

I notice you still live free enough to post your venom against him here.

It’s absurd that there are so many faux conservatives who hold bush with equal or greater contempt than Obama does. Reagan has a long list of conservative failings—but I still praise him.

This pathology is the core of conservative weakness.

“Memories of the junior Bush economic hangover haunt not only President Barack Obama, still struggling to recover from it, but also the Republican who wants Mr. Bush’s old job.”

This is pure bull$hit. The economy was strong on Jan 3, 2009 when the Democrats took over both houses of Congress. They proceeded to implement measures that began the destruction of the economy, and Senator Obama was supportive of all the measures that lead to the downturn. Obama helped create the economy that he ‘inherited’.

Bush of course failed to bullypulpit against these measures, failed to use the veto...but the fault of the economic downturn falls heavy on the Dims, and will only get worse if Obama were to ‘get another four years’.

Romney won’t be the loser today, and tonight we party with him.

History will be far kinder to George W. Bush than the present.

Heartily concur.

I talked to a couple of Obama voters this morning who said something to that effect. Of course they really had no clue beyond a reflexive hatred of him.

Overall, Bush Derangement Syndrome probably won't have much effect because it mainly strikes hardcore democrats.
