Internal Polls Show Close Romney Lead

Internal polling leaked to the media today show a close but definitive lead for the Romney campaign. Toby Harnden at the Daily Mail got the scoop:

Mitt Romney is ahead by a single percentage point in Ohio - the swing state that could well decide the election - according to internal polling data provided to MailOnline by a Republican party source.

Internal campaign polling completed on Sunday night by campaign pollster Neil Newhouse has Romney three points up in New Hampshire, two points up in Iowa and dead level in Wisconsin. Most startlingly, the figures show Romney and Obama deadlocked in Pennsylvania.

The most dramatic shift in the Romney campaign's internal polling has been in Wisconsin, which has moved from being eight points down to pulling level. Obama is campaigning in the state on the eve of election day.

Harnden's key takeaways are that the figures are different "from virtually all public polling," but that "if the internal polls are correct then Romney will almost certainly become the 45th President of the United States.

Allahpundit over at Hot Air has the take - and believes that a big GOP turnout machine could prove this internal polling prescient - but certainly that the polling itself won't change anyone's mind.

Is there any Republican anywhere who’s given up and thinks O’s slight lead in Ohio in the independent polls is immune to huge GOP turnout tomorrow? The final Gallup and Rasmussen national tracking polls each have Romney ahead by a point, a fact Drudge is trumpeting as I write this. There are no Romney voters at this point who need rosy internal polls to nudge them out the door tomorrow.

I am optimistic about the election, but the one damper is that the polling seems much closer than everything else about the race (the crowds, the location of the candidates, what my friends are saying, ...). I can easily believe that the media polls are willfully biased, but if these really are internal Romney polls, they have no reason to be off, and they point to a squeaker instead of a landslide.

Hey, it’s supposed to be the other way around called a concession speech. The contest is just what hour that will take place. Of course the condolence would be a nice touch, even though the golden parachute will still eclipse anything short of remaining president.

It is going to be fairly obvious as the day goes on, just how accurate all of the over sampled polling was, and there are those who think the house of cards is going to come tumbling down rather quickly.

I so want to believe.

By six pm MST it should all be over, unless Joe Stalin is in charge of the vote count. Just a little more than 12 hours to go.

There was a MSM (ABC) bimbo on CSPAN last week who let the cat out of the bag: The networks will not call the race or key close states until 11 PM Eastern “because we don’t want to disenfranchise voters”.

With typical MSM stupidity she made it obvious they couldn’t care less about Hawaii or Alaska voters, but they would hold results until the polls close on the west coast at 11PM Eastern.

They will call it for Romney—the close key states—all at the same time—tonight—11:01 PM Eastern.

Yes, but 1 or 2 percentage points across the country can equate to a significant victory when the electoral votes are counted. Personally, I am very nervous but hopeful. Expecting a nail biter and hoping the Kenyan has plenty of time for golf come Wednesday morning!!

Through voter fraud, intimidation, media and judicial help, democrats usually manage to win "squeakers".

Ad what does a man with a lead keep doing? He runs THROUGH the finish line which is why Romney is still campaigning. He has a work ethic.

BS. A Romney source is not going to call the commies at the UK Daily Mail and release internal polling numbers. The fat sluices at the Mail are known for downing 10 pints before lunch and making stuff up.

The MSM is going to be unable to live up to this if the voting is lopsided. One or all are going to want to one up the other and so will be more than tempted to release early.

I think the Romney pollsters are being very conservative themselves and Ohio is going to be won by more then 5pts.
