10:57 AM MT, Colorado Sec of State: GOP leads early vote by 5.1%
Colorado Sec of State | November 6, 2012 | self

As of 12: 57 Eastern time Colorado Sec of State Scott Gessler reported that in early voting Republicans lead Democrats by just under 5.1% http://bit.ly/Sr7nKP

TOPICS: News/Current Events; Politics/Elections; US: Colorado
KEYWORDS: colorado
Don't know if this is early voting meaning before today or early voting meaning what has happened so far today. The former is better than the latter, but either way this is good news beacuse Obama won Colorado by 9 points in 2008.

More than half the voters in Colorado had already submitted their ballots prior to today. Here are the early-vote ballot counts as of 10:10 am MT, according to Colorado’s Secretary of State:

Democrats: 653,450 (34%)

Republicans: 688,303 (36%)

Unaffiliated: 547,437 (29%)

A very good sign for Republicans, who usually perform better on Election Day than in early voting.

I think you can already cue up Dandy Don Meredith for CO: “Turn out the lights, the party’s over.”

Not to be a pessimist, but it all really comes down to which precincts are reporting. If the sample size is fairly homogenous across counties, it is indeed good news. If Denver metropolitan area is underrepresented in that sample, then it’s just pointless to lend this number any meaning.

They do not know who these people voted for.

To learn that, we need to see who is counting.

ACORN and SEIU counting the vote?

The unaffiliated will break by good margins for Romney. It won’t be close enough for the democrats to cheat.

A +5 turnout for Republicans over Democrats should mean that Obama is getting demolished in Colorado, shouldn’t it?

Anyone know what the 2008 early vote numbers were?

Democrats were up 2 points in EV in 2008, according to another thread here.

Actually, the numbers are +2 for the GOP early voting. The 5.1% at the top seems to be a ratio of the GOP/DEM early voting and not the spread.

Dem 34%, Rep 36%, Independent 29%

I thought that Dems have the advantage in early voting. If these numbers are true, than already we can chalk up CO for Romney. ... I feel the earth move under my feet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoHuxpa4h48&info=CaroleKing

As much as I want to know this information, one part of me says it is just too much information right now.

No need to letting the D's know what they need to do.

On the other hand, I do want to know what is going on. Oh My, what to do?

R+5 nationally and Obama gets demolished everywhere.

It’s not R+5, it’s R+2 as an earlier poster mentioned (the thread title is misleading).

It’s not R+anything nationwide in early voting. It’s D+ in Iowa, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia that I know of. Only Colorado, of all the swing states, is R+. The early voting page at gwu.edu has the 2008 and 2012 numbers.

The good news, supposedly, is that in all cases the ‘D+’ number is lower than it was in 2008 and therefore somehow magically indicates a Romney win IF IF IF IF IF election day voting patterns hold up to what the so-called experts expect AND if Massive Democrat Vote Fraud isn’t too much.

I think, as per Darth, that VA is plus R in early voting.

Idiot. McCain did better on election day in OH, FL, NC and VA on election day than Obama. That’s McCain with no groundgame McCain and he still beat Obama on election day.

Fast forward to today. All their margins are severely reduced. In NC, it was 21 points in 2008 and obama only won by 0.4%. Today it’s abou 16 points and we should win by 5 to 8%. That’s not even counting the increased crossovers from dems and favorable indie ratios this year compared to 08.

It would be helpful if you knew what you were talking about.

Democrats have time to vote during EV, I didn’t have time to wait 2 hours in line as it would have during EV, I voted this morning, took me all of 15 minutes.

Moron. It would help if you learned how to read. (There, we’re even now. Happy?).

I said that all the *early voting* numbers were D+, except Colorado. And as it turns out, maybe Virginia.

Is Romney winning *early voting* in OH, FL or NC or IA? No.

Is he doing better than McCain did in ‘08? Duh. He could hardly do worse. You don’t need a spreadsheet to see that.
