There sure seemed to be a spirit of I-don’t-care over this land. Why was the turnout in GOP primaries so anemic, with the biggest political challenge yet to be faced? Even if it had ended up similarly fractured, the passion would have counted for something.

You know, I could respect Jim saying he did not want to vote for Mitt even if I didn’t agree that was wise. I’m doing OK on my own (not in an affirmative action “protected class”), and the kids aren’t even in high school yet. The access to higher education is very limited for white boys, as is any work related to the gubmint (not just gubmint jobs, but in companies which have contracts with the gubmint - the number of them grows every day as gubmint takes over the private sector).

The problem is is that we didn’t kill Fabian Socialism in it’s infancy. Instead free people began to make comprises.... believing we can allow some government interventions and have a little welfare state, and then put the brakes on when it becomes too burdensome. Wrong. Once you entitle Paul to Peter’s money it’s over. Another problem is that people have fallen for the illusion of choice. There wasn’t much of a choice. Romney would have still expanded the government and only slowed socialism. The Republican Party is only exists to make freedom loving people think they still have a stake. I supported Romney after he won the primaries, but what you say is the truth. We then, if we lost, would have had at least fought on principles. I want someone that believes in the Constitution and not a liberal or a Taliban agenda. Members of the Ivy League need not apply. Oligarchs are not to be trusted.
