THE GOP DIED LAST NIGHT

The Republican Party died last night.

Somewhere in the suburbs of Cleveland, on the shore of Lake Erie, in the decisions of some suburban voters, the Republican Party stopped being a nationally viable political organization.

Oh, it will continue to exist.

But it will likely never again truly contest for the presidency. The nation has changed, the values have been replaced, the demographics are different.

The demographics are insurmountable.

Last night was a tipping point, a dance on a razor’s edge, and it went the other way. What was undoable last night will become increasingly impossible with each passing year. The margins will grow, the base will shrink, the tide will turn and the day will pass.

The Republican Party died last night.

Oh, it will continue to exist.

There will be the name and the elephants, but nationally, conservatism is playing against an impossibly stacked deck.

The nation had a clear choice. Each party ran candidates who were true to type. The Republicans ran conservatives and the Democrats ran liberals and it was a rout. Nothing changed except that Republicans got rebuffed across the board.

America wants Democrat.

More specifically, America wants liberal. It wants an activist, empowered government, imposing fairness and supporting entitlement.

That’s what America wants.

At least half of it wants that. Half and a tiny bit more.

And the inexorably shifting demographics of the nation ensure that that tiny bit more will grow steadily, cementing the liberal majority and creating an electoral impossibility of replacing it.

Last night was the last chance.

It was the last chance to gain a last national electoral victory over the Democratic coalition – Latinos, blacks, gays, feminists, trade unionists, government employees and welfare beneficiaries. The last chance to let a Republican president advocate the conservative, constitutional principles upon which American society was built.

But America said, “No, thanks.”

The majority preferred more of the last four years to anything Mitt Romney and the Republicans were offering.

The constituent communities of that majority are only going to grow in size and prominence in American society. They are going to increasingly dominate our society and politics.

Four years from now, more of the older conservative voters will be dead, and more of the younger liberal voters will be registered to vote. The Latino community, essentially co-opted by the Democrats into an aggrieved permanent minority status, will, like black voters, be larger and more Democrat. Four years from now, the cultural shift away from traditional values will be more advanced, thanks to more brainwashing by school teachers and sitcoms.

Those members of our society who typically identify with the Democratic Party are increasing. Those members of our society who typically identify with the Republican Party are shrinking.

You do the math.

Certain, Republicans will keep running. And some of them, no doubt, will win. But they will be a different sort of Republican.

They will not be conservative. Certainly not socially or morally conservative.

They will bend over backwards to avoid the principles of moral conservatism, so as to not disrespect a social norm.

They will be Democrat-lite.

Or they will not win.

Last night was our best chance.

And America chose the other team.

Almost $3 billion was spent on the presidential campaign. Untold tens of millions of dollars were spent on congressional campaigns across the country. And nothing changed.

Obama is still in the White House. The Democrats still control the Senate. Republicans still control the House of Representatives. The pundits say America voted to break the grid lock, that it voted to demand team work. It did no such thing. It voted to maintain the status quo.

So we have gone on a long, painful and expensive national journey, and it has left us exactly where we started.

A couple of House seats this way, a couple of Senate seats that way, and Obama on top of the whole thing.

That isn’t change, that is business as usual.

Conservatism has become a regional philosophy, the Republican Party a regional party. It will win governorships, it will win seats in the House or Senate, but it will essentially be a phenomenon of the South and Midwest.

Where traditional values endure and dwindle, the Republican Party will still be relevant.

But those places will shrink and shrivel. And each year, the gap between those who support conservatism and the number needed to win a national victory will grow.

Last night was conservatism’s last stand.

And it lost.

The Republican Party died last night.

Remember, the GOP and Romney gave NO place to the Evangelical vote at the RNC convention. They outright snubbed us and that act rubbed Evangelicals the wrong way.

First, as an Evangelical Christian Tea Party Patriot ... I "did" vote for Romney-Ryan yesterday.

For many months at Free Republic I declared that my Christian beliefs prohibited me from voting for an "anti-christian" like Myth Romney.

What persuaded me to vote for Romney-Ryan was the hope that at least one (1.000) child might be saved from an abortion.

That was it.

======================================

What would you say to the 2011 Denver Broncos ... or the 2009-2010 Florida State football teams ...

if they benched Jim Tebow, just because he was a "Christian" ?

You would call them bigots perhaps, but more than anything ...

you would call them "STUPID".

Myth Romney and his Karl Rove GOP E-RINOs decided to effectively LOCK-OUT their "best" A-Team players from the 2012 final run for the White House.

Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Herman Cain ...

all should have been PROMINENTLY EMBRACED by Myth Romney at the 2012 Tampa Convention.

Instead, as the author (above) points out ... they were BENCHED, IGNORED ...

======================================

I "accurately" predicted for months at Free Republic ...

and in several news media interviews at the 2012 GOP Tampa Convention ...

that Myth Romney WOULD LOSE TO OBAMA if he were nominated ...

because the "Evangelical Christian Political Infantry" would NOT be feverishly working campaign telephone banks, placing yards signs, and walking precients for "anti-christ" Mormon Mitt Romney and his (often godless) GOP E-RINO gang like Karl Rove (et al).

======================================

In fairness to Mitt Romney, he did suprisingly well in the campaign's final month ...

His debate preparation and performances were EXCELLENT ...

And the more "Newt Gingrich" campaign themes Mitt Romney (finally) incorporated were refreshingly EFFECTIVE ...

However ... Mitt Romney LOST THE ELECTION IN TAMPA ...

when Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, and the other valiant "genuine" CONSERVATIVES were thrown under the bus by the GOP E-RINOs.

P.S.

A special "thanks" to Rush Limbaugh for letting guest-host Mark Steyn (sp) MOCK and RIDICULE Newt Gingrich on a DAILY basis during the crucial Florida Primary ...

after Newt Gingrich had won a "landslide" victory against Mitt Romney in South Carolina.

Rush Limbaugh's often stated claim that he doesn't endorse candidates ... is Stalinist Propaganda ...

especially when intellectual light-weights like Mark Steyn (sp) are ENCOURAGED to DESTROY a "genuine" Conservative like Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich.

P.S.S. "Memo to Karl Rove and Jeb Bush" ...

"No" ... GOP Presidential Candidate wins the White House ... without winning South Carolina.

” We only loose if we,as conservatives, refuse to fight.”

So what, pray tell does that fight look like?

Conservatism is Americas last best hope.

Conservatism needs to go full beast mode.

The GOP compromised conservative principles and ran a flaming liberal and Freerepublic compromised conservative principles and embraced a flaming liberal and today is the result of playing party politics and abandoning principle.

Therefore, you Sir or Ma'am, are the problem here.

No, he didn’t clean Barry’s clock. But do you really think that Santorum or Newt would have done better?

“Romney ran an absolutely awful campaign with 1 spectacular debate that kept him in striking distance.”

Bulls**t...
Romney ran one of the best organized, best-informed, most micro-targeted campaigns we have ever seen.

Until you begin to understand the true enemy we face, THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA, you will continue to lose.

Hell, a woman who faked being a minority for government-mandated benefits got elected to the Senate, for chrissakes.

Pretty much what I think too. I would love to see a President Palin(or Perry or Gingrich), but if this electorate was afraid of Mittens because of his milquetoast Pro-Life stance, that pretty much answers how the more militant candidates would have fared. Sad, but true. I pray for the day that this country can be taken back for God, but it’s probably too late.

So true! The Republican party -- caretakers for the democRAT party & agenda.

Our country and it's values of inalienable rights from our Creator, of freedom & liberty & Judeo-Christian founding principles, are now officially dead. Over 50% of the country very stupidly voted for the RAT bastard commie muslim pig 0bama in 2008 and re-affirmed that again yesterday.

We are now officially one nation under government rather than one nation under God. I cannot understand why God would choose to honor & bless the RAT bastart satanic demonic 0bama or the democRAT party, over the millions of Christians & conservatives who voted against 0bama. It is a complete & utter travesty & devastation that was a complete slap in the face to Christians & patriots yesterday.

This is now America's greatest day of Infamy in our history. Our nation will shrivel & die within the next 4 years, and will likely be carved up into 4-5 regional countries, subservient to China, Russia & the Islamic caliphate.

Obama fell 15 million votes short of his 2008 totals, but Romney also fell 6 million short of McCain’s totals. I would have guessed that Romney got more votes than McCain, but I would have guessed way wrong

You are using dated figures. The counting is still going on. Currently, it is Obama with 50% (59,666,257 votes) and Romney with 48% (57,045,223 votes).

Obama received 69 million in 2008 and McCain 59 million. I anticipate Obama will finish with around 63 million and Romney with about 60 million. Obama lost far more votes, but I think Romney did well since many conservative voters (WWII era folks) have died since 2008 and we are not replenishing them in the GOP.

That 59 million by McCain was the second largest number ever received by a Presidential candidate topped only by Obama's 69 million. I think the Rep vote is already hitting a high water mark. Demography is destiny.

FYI: Only 68% of the CA vote is in with Obama leading by about 2 million 5.5 million to 3.5 million. In 2008 Obama won CA 8.2 million to 5 million. We should see around another 4 million votes counted in CA, which will add to both totals.

If you are not willing to vote for a Republican candidate unless he is 110% to your liking, perhaps you are the RINO.

This country has lost its moral compass.

Eventually it will regain morality of the Islamic kind, may take decades, but they are patient, ask Obama.

Anybody that did not vote for Romney last night, is my enemy. I will no longer allow them in my life and will hold them responsible for the next four years.

If your statement that we are now a center-left country is true (which it probably is), then to hell with this irreconcilable Union. I want a divorce. I hope Secession is in our future.

Obama won because he took 5.1 million more votes in the under 30 demographic.

That’s obviously where we need to focus. The good news that in 2016 they will be 4 years older, paying taxes (if they can find jobs) and see what their health coverage looks like. People tend to become more conservative as they get older.

Post number 2 by bubbabasher tells the tale.

The Republican Party, the party of The Bushes, Bob Dole, John McCain and The Mittster, the party of indescribably stupid people like Akin and Mourdock, the party of selfish arrogant pricks like Chris Christie, the party that exists only to go along to get along, so long as there's an equity position to be found in any situation, died last night.

Oh it didn't? Well it fewking well deserved to. Not that it matters, but on my list to do today is to go change my registration to Independent, and then to ceremoniously BURN my Republican voter ID, never to change it back, "not never ever".

Then this weekend, discussion at home about how to weather the storm yet to come, or just face it now.

Best of luck to everyone...

Amen,

I prayed daily but in my heart I knew people would never allow a Mormon president, but they don’t seem to have a problem of a Muslim one.

Obama isn’t for gay marriage, he just lies.

I am literally physically ill and depressed,

I truly think we are witnessing the last days.

The war on Christianity will continue with Obama’s blessing

Thanks for the correction on votes.

“Demography is destiny.”

Only if hispanics are incapable of learning about freedom and personal initiative. I doubt that is true. Texas and Arizona have a lot of hispanics but are not turning into liberal strongholds.

Rather than pandering to hispanics, we need to EDUCATE with intelligent, convincing arguments.
