Jewelry Store Closes to "Mourn" Tuesday's Presidential Election Outcome
WDBJ7 ^ | November 7, 2012 | Elizabeth Harrington

The six signs posted on Lyons Jewelers in Bedford got everyone's attention on Wednesday.

"There's one saying shame on USA and Virginia. Oh my God."

The signs explained why Lyons Jewelers was not open. The largest sign told people it was closed to "Mourn the loss of the America that our forefathers endowed to us."

Another sign said "The president seeks my demise."

A friend of the owner, R.T. Lyons, tell us "He done it to show that he didn't agree and didn't like what happened."

Many people we spoke with were very upset by the signs.

"I don't think it's right," says Eggleston. "It's very childish," said Joseph Bede.

One customer posted a sign telling the owner he lost that person's business. Another customer says she won't be back either.

After 13 years as a loyal customer, Willie Thornhill says she's done.

Thornhill says, "I think this is no place to have signs in your window if you expect to do business in Bedford. I will not be a customer again with this company."

But some people agreed with the owner.

"I think it speaks the truth," Amanda Gordon proclaims.

James Higginbotham agrees with Gordon and the store owner. "He's right. The small businesses I look for them to be closing."

>>> The owner's friend says employees were given the day off with pay.

And I’m sure that Bedford has more than it’s share of “Coexist” and “Tolerance and Diversity” bumper stickers.

“So many voted, so many mourn yet the other guy won. Something smells real fishy here.”

The fraud wagon just keeps on rolling.
The electronic voting system is fraud voting on steroids. It is way to easy to “adjust” the totals. Ever had a mistake show up on your electronic bank statement? One second it’s there, then the numbers are changed to reflect the correct balance.
In voting totals, guess who gets to determine the “correct balance”?
It was too easy, the fraud wagon just keeps on rolling....

The thing is Obama voters are big on the bling. You and I might have to dispense with the purchase of jewelry but the welfare queens and kings are never short of the shinies and long ugly fingernails. They pay for it with our cash.

How does this process work from this point on. Are these votes hand counted and confirmed at some point?

Here’s a way to think about this...a darn good one if you ask me...

If you have to pay for 0bamacare for your employees...what do you need worker’s compensation for?

“How does this process work from this point on. Are these votes hand counted and confirmed at some point?”

Ever play a video game? The scores are tallied and changed in a micro second. The only thing that can be accurately verified at the polls, is the number of people who showed up to vote. Even that can be corrupted as no ID is required to vote in many states. IE: Registered voters showing up to vote and the rolls indicate they have already voted.
When voting is done electronically, there is no accurate way to confirm the votes are correct.
Yes, go into that booth with the electronic machine. Go through the motion of selecting your “choice”. But when the votes are tallied, the guy behind the screen with the laptop can make the totals say anything he is directed to say.

These people that won’t support this guy’s business were never his customers in the first place.

I don't think you can buy jewelry with welfare debit cards.

“I think it wasn’t the smartest move for his business.
Seems to be lashing out emotionally and now it may hurt his business. Might have been a better idea to keep his work and his private politics separated.”

Ahhhh...so you’re saying his freedom of speech should have been kept suppressed for the all American DOLLAR? No, he clearly is NOT A YELLOW-BELLIED COWARD. Guess out troops should go into battle without bullets too, huh?

I bet I know you you voted for.

I’ll bet the “very upset” people were Democrats.

No, you cannot. But what I see ALL OVER MY TOWN is they get their freely distributed pain pills and sell them for a NICE profit. Besides...they sit home all day making/selling meth too in many cases (we had an apartment explode near my home just this summer over the stuff). So..they have their income, trust me...in addition to our tax donations.

maybe your husband needs to “wrench his back”, go on workers comp, and collect his money back

maybe he needs to figure out a different business model- maybe independent contractor? Or figure out how to set up a nonprofit like Rahm Emmanuel and the Kennedys, hire himself and you as trustees, and live on tax exempt income

If he can teach welfare moms and ex-cons to screw in twisty light bulbs maybe he can qualify as a green jobs creator. First, register as a democrat. Second contact democrat congressman and senator to apply for grants

The stink is VOTE FRAUD.

This election was STOLEN by evicting legitimate poll workers, rigging electronic voting machines, and letting dubious ballots be cast.

The odds of having ties/tight races in battleground and swing states is what makes it fishy.

I have no idea what you’re talking about regarding the troops going into battle with no bullets.

I think this guy let his emotions get away from him and it may harm his business.
Certainly he has a right to say whatever he wants..but there are consequences.
How do you feel about the Dixie Chicks.

As to you betting that you know how I voted. Is there anything you wouldn’t bet on you knowing.

For years I’ve heard that liberals don’t think with their heads. They’re all about feel good emotions.
This is just about the same thing.
Upset by the outcome of an election this fellow vented publicly to his customers, some of whom were Obama voters. He succeeded in alienating those customers and it didn’t change the outcome of the election at all.

“maybe your husband needs to “wrench his back”, go on workers comp, and collect his money back”

>> The problem is worker’s comp does NOT cover the employer...only the employee so that’s the problem. We just “have to have it” now.

“maybe he needs to figure out a different business model- maybe independent contractor?”

>>> He’s always been an “independent contracor” per se. Just now he’s working alone/independently as well doing odd jobs which is a far cry from the 300K custom homes he used to frame with a small crew.

As for a “jobs creator”....I think he’d dig post holes before doing anything involved with government hand out or help. Just how he is and I’m glad for it, but thanks for the ideas. Least you tried to help :)

Yup, that you don’t have a clue about me when it comes down to it. And that you don’t understand some people are willing to take a chance on losing business to voice an honest protest. To them (as well as myself) it is well, worth it because soon we may lose that freedom.

Well I never claimed to have a clue about you at all. You opened that box by saying you bet you know how I voted. You said that based on my opinion that as a business owner this guy didn’t make the most prudent decision.
He has a right to say whatever he wants, and his customers have a right to shop elsewhere.

So tell me....who did I vote for.

Ok, maybe you need to become his “employee” (book keeper, appointment scheduler).

then wrench YOUR back - or develop “carpal tunnel” - or “depression”

Or you buy the business (for a $1) and then he becomes your employee.

I am all for outgaming liberals who take money from hard working people

Yep. Part of the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. 46 men from Bedford (a town of about 4,000 back then) landed on Omaha. 23 didn’t come home. The National D-Day Memorial is there largely because of it.

I grew up about 30 miles from Bedford on the other side of Lynchburg (Amherst). Bedford’s a great little town with good, hard-working people, in the middle of the beautiful country of the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills.
