Earlier today, fast food juggernaut McDonalds reported same store sales for the month October. At -1.8%, this number was well below expectations of -1.1%, and a drop from September's 1.9%. It was driven by a 2%+ drop in comp store sales across all locations: US, Europea and APMEA, with the US performing just as bad as Europe. Most importantly, this was the first monthly drop in MCD comp sales since March 2003! So our question is: at what point does the perpetually self-deluded US population finally admit to itself that when even 99 cent meals are no longer affordable, that this country has a problem?

You can thank the MSM and first lady demonizing them. Or, their stupid decision to support the first lady and replace french fries with apples slices in their kids meals.
well? they used to have the best french fries in the business, now they’re the worst. when your quality goes down it gets harder to hold onto customers. i really don’t like going to MD’s anymore. Dairy Queen has much better products, and since they cook to order, they’re fresher.
There are many more palatable options to McDonald’s.
A restaurant that was built on ground beef stopped frying the spuds in beef tallow to avoid offending Hindus.
It’s been down hill ever since.
This is a business decision. McD’s has the right to make the decision. We have the right to shop there or not.
This is not the first time McD’s changed their oil and buckled under to pressure. And it won’t be the last.

hmmmm.....where do I start with this?
- They’ve caved in and Moochelleified their food to the point where most of it tastes like crap.
- They’ve ruined the Happy Meal with apples and lame toys to the point where children wouldn’t want one.
- They’ve done away with Playlands so as not to pollute the minds of The Chillin’ with commericalism (or further enrich slimeball ambulance chasing lawyahs).
- I can’t even read their drive-thru menu anymore because you can’t tell whether you are looking at a calorie count or a combo price.
- After my local one was remodeled you’d think from looking at it that McDonalds was some sort of farmers market where fresh fruit was sold alongside poofy gourmet coffees.
- All their ads anymore are merely naked pandering to all of the usual aggrieved minority groups.
- Despite the Dollar Menu hype it is hard to get out of there anymore without spending at least seven or eight bucks.
mcD’s is an amazing business...
But why do I barf the stuff up within minutes of eating it?
I used to be able to eat McD’s without any problem.
(this is not me, I can eat and enjoy Burger King without any problem...)
oh yeah, and I forgot, more than a couple in my town have been busted by the cops for operating as over-the-counter illegal drug outlets

That, plus the horrible drive-through service and their inability to get orders correct.
It’s really amateur night whenever I’ve gone to one in recent years - all three of the active brain cells allotted per employee seem steeped in THC, and still struggling (though not very hard) to learn the rudiments of English, math, task sequencing, politeness, and motivation.

McDonald’s caves all the time to lefties. Remember the clamshell containers?
whenever they try to be what they are not, they lose. i cringe when i go (very rarely) and see starbucks-type yuppie counters, adn highchairs for adults, etc...
let’s face it, people don’t go to macd’s to be sophisticated! they go for good, cheap grub that they can get in, grab, and get out. if they wanted to be seen as beign yuppies, they’d go to starbucks
But Chick Fil A had record sales. This is kind of funny. I hate McDs. But hubby and I went to one a week or so ago. It was the worst! My fries were awful. The place is run by Spanish speaking youths. I don’t think the languages they speak is the issue. They were very unorganized and flubbed five orders while we were there. I have never seen a McDs so poorly run. We vowed again to not go back there. We have made the same vow about the KFC next door. Awful, dirty places!

I have noticed a BIG drop off in McD activity, empty stores even near “dinner times”.
Meals are a lot more than “$.99” once you add a drink and tax etc. New “meals” are closer to $7-9 and do not fill you up, especially teens- most of whom have no jobs anymore to buy McD
the new french fries suck big wind so I dont go there so much anymore except for a drive through ice cream cone.
Chick-Fil-A will experience 10 to 20 times the revenue from my family this year than in the last 5 or 10 years.
They’re are now my goto fast food joint.
I’m going to have to set a strict Chik-Fil-A budget.
One is just going in ONE MY ROUTE HOME!

I haven't gone past the top three in a couple of years. And there aren't any In-n-out burgers around here, so don't tell me that I'm missing out.
Steak and Shake is great. The prices are very reasonable, and my local one at least seems to be the last bastion of the cheery, smiling, hard-working 18-to-20 something employee.
My grand daughter stays with us 2 nights a week. She loves McDonalds Happy meal chicken nuggets. She wants a toy for boys. She likes the apple slices, but wants more fries.
I get a sandwhich and fries from the dollar menu and we trade fries, since I don’t need to be eating all those frys and a burger.
It works out fine for us. I haven’t noticed a difference in the frys. Course we live in a small town, and people around here have a tendency to have an independent streak, so maybe they are doing what they have always done.

Once in a while we’ll go through the drivethru and get sundaes for the family.

Yep. I haven't had one in years. After the switch, I found even eating a couple of the new ones made me physically ill.
I'll still grab a .99 burger now and then if I'm on the run (and its actually cheaper than making one at home) but that's about it.
The service is horrible, and the food is blah. I have only gone 2 or 3 times since my daughter has been born and it was partly because I wanted her to be able to play on the playground. Both times at 2 different locations we were unsuccessful. We almost always will pass it up and go to Chick Fil A instead.
My kids love the apple slices. However, our McD’s put both fries AND apple slices in the happy meals. However, the fries are just not good anymore, since they quit using some “non-vegan” oil a few years ago.
An Angus Burger costs $4.50 after taxes.

I feel for you. I feel the pain.
No, no, McD’s stopped using beef tallow because the health nazis claimed it was an evil, saturated fat and that fast food restaurants were trying to kill their customers. As if that makes any sense, but these are liberal busybodies we are talking about here.
The fast food places switched to trans fats, which not only make the fries soak up more fat, and thus, are higher in calories and fat, but now the health nazis have discovered that trans fats are bad. Once more, liberals believe they have all the answers and are wrong.
Hmmmm? The $10 million dollar settlement in ‘02 had nothing to do with it?
Did a search and came up with this: McDonald’s stopped using beef tallow at the store level in 1990 due to the health nazis. However, the plants that made the fries continued to add beef flavoring to the fries and that is when the Hindus got their turbans in a twist and sued.
So, are we both right? ;-)
