Electronic identification cards, updated social security cards, penalties to employers, guest worker programs.....these are new ideas that we need to push and implement. We need to get this immigration issue behind us so we can shake off the unfair label as being racists. I’m telling eveyone on this site that if we don’t get this done, we are sunk as a nation and a party.

"There was no big Hispanic vote in Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, NH, or Minnesota. The Dems and MSM are trying to stampede the Reps into making a deal on immigration and amnesty."

Exactly.

Complete confirmation for my decision to unregister as a (R) yesterday and register independent. Coming back when the tea party takeover of the GOP is complete. Boehner is clearly part of the problem, and not part of the solution. If this was a marriage, conservatives in the GOP could qualify for a RINO restraining order to keep from any more abuse.

Elections have consequences and I say it’s time to remove this weapon from the Rats playbook.

If Republicans cave on this, then we will never again enforce immigration law again. An amnesty now would probably legalize 15-20 million, or more. Then all the family members who would follow. An amnesty would, within a few years, increase the Latino population so much that future politicians would be afraid to do anything to enforce the law. It would be open borders with no thought of ever doing anything about it.

I think this is the final opportuntiy to restore some order and law enforcement to the southern border, and it might not even be possible now.

Just this morning Boehner said, “ObamaCare is the law of the land.”

Accurate?

Probably.

But where is this man's political common sense?

Unsatisfied with our defeat in 2012, Boehner is already laying the foundation for another defeat in 2016.

Totally true. I don't think the GOPe and RINOS ever opened their eyes and realized how much W's two big amnesty pushes damaged the party. And they will never admit how much a new push from Boner will damage it now. But I think an amnesty deal just after this election would cause large numbers to give up on the GOP, myself included.

It would not be unreasonable or unexpected for the ones here legally to feel some kind of fealty with those who want to be here legally. My heritage is Italian and I can tell you that at one time they were considered as much a threat to the “real America” as Latinos are now. There is a kindred spirit with those who share your background. I don’t think anyone has all the answers but the GOP needs to get creative and start showing off the great members of our party that have a Hispanic heritage before we lose 90%+ of that group too.

And we can’t put it all on Rubio either. If he becomes a single point of failure then the Rats will only have one person to destroy. We need a broader strategy.

the illegals or immigrants will leave on their own when they discover there are no jobs here

Jobs? They'll make more from welfare than any job they'd have back in Mexico.

No, they'll leave when white racists start burning their houses/trailers down.

I am going to sneak across the Mexican border and then illegally immigrate back to the U.S. Just call me Pedro from now on.

Do you ever consider how many conservative Republicans of long standing the party will lose by pandering to Latinos and rewarding their illegal behavior? They won’t become Democrats, but they will simply drop out and stop supporting Republicans in signficant numbers.

And I guess you know an amnesty was granted in 1986 to solve the problem. And here we are again.

What planet do u live on.

Decades of compromises and Grand Bargains from both sides, past and
Present, have brought us to the brink. And u think more of the same is
Going to save this nation?

And many more after 2016 if he helps grant amesty to 15-20 million illegals here now.
