Groupon is firing some employees today.
A source familiar with the situation puts the number at 80. This is a significant number of people, obviously, but it's also a very small percentage of Groupon's 10,000+ global employees.
Groupon is reporting Q3 earnings this evening. Management will presumably describe the details of these layoffs on the call.
The source familiar with the situation suggests the cuts are part of a sales and marketing "optimization" effort that Groupon management alluded to on the last earnings call.
UPDATE: Groupon disclosed that it has cut more than 600 jobs from its salesforce in the last six months.

both of my kids who have never voted before voted for Romney and my sister who never votes did also. I am really scared by Obamacare and now we will never be able to get rid of it. Obama is a son of a B****. sorry but just so angry still.
It’s okay. I’m angry, too. And yes, they did in fact vote their lady parts and Obamacare, along with gay marriage.
I am not amused by all the sudden layoff announcements now that the election is over. If they are laying people off because of Obama and say so, that’s different, but any company that held off on layoffs to avoid embarrassing Obama is going on my permanent boycott list. I actually use GroupOn, or used to. They are now like GM, Chrysler, and so many other crony capitalist companies - permanently dead to me. We are now in a state of at least economic war, and I will use my financial weapons every single day. GroupOn is Obama’s ally, which makes it America’s enemy. I do not in any way support my enemies.
Don't apologize. I think your choice of inappropriate words was far too mild. The frightening thing is that when we face the anti-Christ, he will also be pure evil but far more intelligent. Clearly America will not do well when facing that challenge if we can't even refuse this drug-addled communist.

To think, some of my friends bought this crap stock even though I pointed out that many other friends were advertisers on Groupon and that their “Groupon” rates weren’t one bit lower than their regular rates.
