CIA Director David Petraeus resigned as head of the leading U.S. spy agency on Friday, saying he had engaged in an extramarital affair and acknowledging he "showed extremely poor judgment."

In a letter to the CIA workforce, Petraeus, 60, said he met with President Barack Obama at the White House on Thursday and asked "to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position."

There is so much fraud and deceit surrounding 0bama and his regime, there's absolutely no way I'm taking their explanation at face value.

Never! I don't trust the man at all. I'm suspecting more and more these election results. Mitt Romney was far from my choice (actually he was second from last)as the nominee but I'm thinking more and more that he was cheated BIG TIME and legally won.

I do NOT trust Obama.

You make good points but no surprise about Hillary stepping down. It was known she was only on for his first term since 2009 or 2010. I think it was discussed here back then and many suggested it would be to prepare for her “2016 campaign”.

Petraeus or anybody who has serious info regarding Benghazi-
gate needs to document their info and protect it in every way
possible. It may serve as a life insurance policy down the road.

Oh, there was already blackmail going on....by the Democrats. Petraeus had this affair while he was still in the Army. I guarantee you, the minute that some FBI Agent walked out of some Colonel’s office who served with Petraeus in Afghanistan, that Colonel would have been high-tailing it to some gas station to call Petraeus and tell him, “Boss, the FBI was here and they asked me questions about your relationship with that reporter.” Petraeus has known for some time that he was under investigation. Obama didn’t even have to threaten him. He’d just look at Petraeus and smile and say, “Dave. How are things with your wife?” Petraeus is smart enough to know that Holder would have been read in on this and reported it to Obama. Also, since this affair happened while Petraeus was on Active Duty, I believe they could call him back to Active Duty and threaten to court martial him. Yep, adultery is still a punishable offense. You really have to have one of the parties admit it, but I’m sure they could reduce him a couple of stars without much problem. Petraeus would probably be happy to get off with just that. Want to know if he’s really in trouble? See if they bring him back on Active Duty or threaten it.

I absolutely believe this election was a fraud...watch Florida and what Alan West does....if he doesn’t get a recount that means the fix was in.

I think every republican congressman and senator who lost should be asking for a recount. Is it too late for Romney to ask?

There is no doubt that the FBI and others knew about the relationship. 4 Star Generals have a lot of handlers and security. They knew who was with the General every minute of the day. These people are all Top Secret cleared and have their own security clearances to worry about..so when asked..they must tell the truth to FBI. My guess is that other journalists knew about the relationship.
Affairs weren’t secrets in Afghanistan..just too many watchers.

3. Petraeus refuses to serve under a traitor like 0bama, so he resigns.

As *I* recall, it was Sens Clinton, Reid, Obama , et al who took out the full-page ad in the NYT calling him "General Betray-us" *before* the surge in Iraq happened. That he later worked with these same people had *me* questioning the clarity of his judgement THEN.

He willingly served under Obama knowing how Obama felt about him personally, and about his missions. He should have refused SECDEF from the start, were his integrity as high as many here assumed it was...
