In the midst of cash-strapped Californians approving new taxes to prevent further cuts in essential state services, San Francisco health officials appear to have found the money to fund what they say is a much-needed service to residents living in the City by the Bay:
Sex changes. The gender-switching surgeries are part of a comprehensive program for treating transgender people that the city's Health Commission green-lighted on Tuesday and announced two days later. Backers say it will help ease the mental anguish of people who feel they are trapped in bodies of the wrong gender, but critics wonder why the taxpayers should foot the bill.
The idea of taxpayer-funded sex change operations came out of talks between public health officials and transgender rights advocates who wanted mastectomies, genital reconstructions and other surgeries covered under San Francisco's universal health care program. City Public Health Director Barbara Garcia said the program could be in operation late next year, once her department has studied how many people it would serve, how much it would cost and who would perform the surgeries. Transgender advocates hailed the vote. All Americans, in consultation with their doctors, should be able to receive the medical care they need to live healthy lives, said Kristina Wertz, program director for the San Francisco-based Transgender Law Center. Thats why we applaud San Franciscos decision to allow transgender people the ability to receive the medical care they need to be healthy.

I think they should be encouraged to do stuff like this. At some point, the country either implodes or common sense kicks in. Either way, we’ll be better off.
why do some think this is rational?
Let Obama save them!
Ayn Rand described all Postmodernist “thinkers” as irrational. It is why they can’t use Logic and Reason, even when faced with facts. They are ideologues and know they “know” everything when they can’t even understand simple economics.
exackly how does one take a woman and make her into a man?
in detail please...
:-( :-)
Join the LPGA or WNBA, that seems to work
in detail please...
Well....since you asked....
I have always been mentally anguished that my penis is not as large as I would like. Will they do anything about my mental anguish and make it longer? Or is some people’s mental anguish more equal than that of other people.
How about the women who have mental anguish over their breasts being too large or too small.
How about short people can they make them taller?
PS— I was just kidding about my penis it was quite adequate until I turned 70 and shrinkage set in.
I now have mental anguish over turning 70 , can they make me younger?
The procedure is called an addadicktome.
true..
Maybe they won’t like the State much when their public school sons are targeted for penis amputations by the gaystopo. The Marxists are running an experiment on creating a hell on earth. They are going to get it, too.
The needs of the hungry, homeless, elderly, schools etc have all been met and they extra funds.
They hate kids.
Have you ever skinned a rabbit? I think it’s kinda like that.
WE don’t wonder why God abandoned America.
I know California is beautiful, but FReepers, get
out of there if you can.
I betcha God is getting ready to toss Cali
into the Pacific. His anger must be very great.
It's all part of the new "healthy". If you want to sleep around and catch something, you get free birth control so you can be "healthy". Obamacare will add all sorts of nuances to "healthy" like cheap generic pills given in place of more expensive intervention. They will eventually give us the ultimate solution: a "healthy" death by assisted suicide.
They shouldn’t stop at merely paying for those that want it. They should make it mandatory for everyone in the are to undergo the change...
Mind you this is the City that last year entertained an ordinance banning circumcision. Now they pay for guys to have their entire genitalia removed. Does anyone else see the irony??????????
