'Affair': Paula Broadwell and David Petraeus, pictured, reportedly had an affair that led to his resignation
CIA Director David Petraeus dramatically resigned today after allegedly having an affair with his biographer, it has been claimed. The alleged affair was uncovered after the FBI launched an investigation into the biographer, Paula Broadwell, for allegedly hacking into the former general's email, NBC News and Slate reported. Broadwell, who researched the book 'All In' for three years, had extensive access to Petraeus in Afghanistan. Yet sources told NBC it is unlikely she will face criminal charges after the alleged hacking, stressing that Petraeus himself is under no investigation. Petraeus stepped down today after confessing to cheating on his wife of 37 years, Holly - behaviour he explained was 'unacceptable' for a senior administration official.

This story is a total smokescreen. Like Helen Thomas in a Hillary Clinton mask, there's uglier stuff under this ugliness.

Who is she? His biographer.
Per her Linkedin Profile a 1991 grad of the USMA (West Point), and a MAJ promotable to LTC, in the Army Reserves.
Of course she probably hasn't had time to update her Linkedin Profile, because I serious doubt that her gold oak leaf is ever going to take on a slivery hue.

Shes got a ring on her wedding ring finger. In the Medieval penitential manuals "double adultery" was the worse of all sexual sins.
"Single adultery" was next.

Just read that his wife was the daughter of the superintendent of West Point. Those (Admiral Fallon among others) who called him a shameless self-promoter appear to have been right. Let’s see if he’s capable of shame now.
Good riddance.

Just try and get into the Hawaii Dept. of Records though. They'll have FAST teams on you in ten minutes.

We will see if Petraeus is an American patriot. We’ll see if he was forced out to avoid his testimony. If he loves this country he will tell all to the American people and no subpenas or testimony before congress will be needed. If he doesn’t talk and others do his legacy could be as traitor rather than hero. Too many people were involved, too many know the truth. It will come out.

Regardless of anyone's thoughts or feelings about Gen. Petraeus this " scandal " some how just shows up weeks after what happened in Benghazi and right after Obama's re-election ? ... sorry folks, Gen. Petraeus is the fall guy.

She entered West Point in 1991...but would have graduated in 1995. Paula Krantz. I didn't book mark the page, but I recall it say she graduated in 91, and had 21 years in. If she did the minimum time on active duty, and then went to the reserves, would she be up for Lieutenant Colonel with 17 years in?

This whole thing about Gen.Petraeus resigning over some personal affair he has with some woman does not meet the smell test.
As if ? this kind of thing is unprecedented ?
Sound more like he's being coerced to resign.

Maybe Petraeus was hired because a lot of Republicans and Centrists liked him, now that the election is over, his services are no longer needed, he served his purpose.

Awesome!
I forget where I read it, but MacArthur and George Marshall rarely were seen in public in full uniform. Yet, Petraeus is always strutting around like that to awe us.
But, even if he's always been a jerk, that doesn't mean that the timing doesn't stink to high-heaven.

And that is exactly what Obama wants. He wants this story to be about
An affair and Broadwell, not Bengazi. And I am sure the MSM will cover
The affair, not Bengazi.
To: American Constitutionalist
Someone at FR please enlighten me. Why would the FBI EVER be "investigating" a general in the field, FAR away from the USA?
For that matter, why would Obama ask the FBI to "investigate" Benghazi?
Isn't the FBI a strictly domestic organization?
And BTW, didn't Nixon get in trouble for trying to pit the CIA vs. the FBI to cover up his crimes?
Forgive my ignorance, but Watergate was when I was a child.

Giuliani is going berserk on Greta saying that we need to “grow up” and accept that great men have affairs. What an idiot!
Looks to me like Petraeus had already been compromised and rolled. Security clearances are real inconvenient for our rulers. Here's why we used to take them seriously.
