Felt it strong here about 20 mi. west of Knoxville, TN. When we moved from CA, we thought that would be the end of earthquakes.

You felt it like me because you are near the Cumberland Mountains. Roosevelt Mountain likely very near you if you are 20 miles west of Knoxville. I'm southwest of the quake so I would get it because mountains & ridges in East Tennessee run Northeast by southwest.

East Tennessee does have small quakes from time to time. This was a big one of such. Be very thankful you moved east of the Cumberland Plateau. There's a huge fault line at Memphis.

Looks like TN shouldn't have sent those two democrats back to Congress. :-)

Here in Red Hampshire, where I am currently trapped; we got our 'ground-shaking message' BEFORE the election. In defiance; the people doubled down, and re-elected Zero, while electing three of the most vile women in America to higher office. That quake was centered in Maine, and they just authorized queer 'marriage'.

Buckle up.

Someone here was posting a list of potentially deadly earthquakes striking worldwide over the next two months...he posted it on several thread, but I can’t seem to locate it. Does anyone remember who was posting those?

I didn't see that one. But this is between two mountain ranges so you'd expect some quakes I reckon.

It's about 500 miles west LOL. Seriously I would not have wanted to been in Cumberland Gap or Big Walker Mountain Tunnels.

A friend of mine in Kingsport was outside and did not feel it; but neighbor children were all running outside from their homes...they had no idea what was going on. They said their houses were ‘shaking’...

I have a electrician friend who drives by my house on occasion and sends me a messge via his too powerful CB radio. The speakers in my house will blare his voice shouting ‘Howdy, Doc’, stay cool’, or some such tweak. He knows his radio is putting out too high a wattage when he does it, then he turns the wattage back to government dictates. Shocked me the first time he did it, but now I just get a good chuckle out of it and shove my thunmbs in the air.

Fear not...... I’m a FEMA trained New Madrid earthquake response damage assessor. They trained us in East Tennessee thinking the west would be out of action.

My training was many years ago and I doubt if they remember me.

We had the weirdest thing happen yesterday.

Himself was talking to a friend via his iPhone and when he was done, ‘hung up’ and turned the phone off.

Seconds later, for a good 5 minutes, there was a ‘conversation’ going on in the room and blast if we could find the source of it.

Sounded like several people talking at once, almost like shortwave radio.

The phone was definitely off, the TV was on mute and there are no radios or anything else in the bedroom that could’ve been the source.

Just as mysteriously as it started, it stopped.

Couldn't make out what the voices were saying, though.

Since there aren't any Bible-believing churches here in Red Hampshire; I listen to the sermons of a 'fire and brimstone preaching' Knoxville pastor over the internet...I can't WAIT until tomorrow morning.

I would suspect Tennessee churches will be filled more than usual tomorrow... :-)

When the tremor happened today, both of our laptops were on, then they went to black screen of death with words like “crash dump”. We did the auto recover/repair and got both back, but it was odd that both were impacted. It didn’t seem that strong.

Here’s another message from the Lord:

Matthew 24:

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

That’s exceedingly odd because laptops have batteries which generally protect them from sudden power losses and so forth.

Which makes me wonder about this

Are you both running Bluetooth/WiFi connections?

On US 52? OMG.

Big Walker? No IIRC it was interstate. I remember going through the tunnel. Really the most scared I got on a mountain was on Jellico Mountain. I had driven about all night coming down from Chicago and hit a blizard in northern Indiana somewhere.

We got to the Kentucky side of Jellico headed south and my partner woke up and said OK I'll take it now. We both didn't have that much driving experience but I knew that mountain real well. I said get over there and strap yourself in I know this mountain curve for curve and hill by hill. We got up about three quarters and he looked down the mountain. He got kinda green around the gills LOL.

My favorite white-knuckle drive (East Coast) is Sharon Springs Road coming down out of Burke’s Garden from the south; which is just a bit to the southwest of Big Walker Tunnel. A narrow, unpaved nightmare of switchbacks and drop-offs that will have the most seasoned driver sweating. Man...my wife and I prayed all the way down. :-)

New Madrid waking up? I spent most of my youth living on top of the New Madrid and I remember the morning my old Kentucky home got rocked back in the 60s.

The Harbinger seems to be right on the money: America missed her wake up calls.

We've been getting to taste a little bit of everything (drought, fires, record storms, floods, hurricanes and now old faults waking up) from the smörgåsbord of what's coming, and we just keep hitting the proverbial snooze button, even though the snooze button keeps hitting back.

But now we really screwed up. Now it's looking like Dad's coming to get us up and take us to school personally.

Significance is relative to preparedness in a given area. A tornado in California equal in size of one in tornado country would have higher impact because people in California do not have readiness, basements (so much), etc. Similarly, a quake in California may seem insignificant due to California having infrastructure which was built with quakes in mind. Rain in Oregon, is experienced as nothing, same rain in Texas may have people sliding all over the road. A drought or heat wave in Oregon would have them cowering, same thing in Texas would be brushed off as nothing. So, everything is relative. Lived in all those places, so first hand experience.
