You may have seen the National Geographic show "Doomsday Preppers," and wondered if it really is all that common. It turns out; there are preppers all over the nation, including central Wisconsin. And they're more in the spotlight than ever.
Superstorm Sandy left much of the East Coast scrambling for power, warmth, gasoline, even food. But preppers say they're ready for disasters - natural or otherwise.

Looking at that map, I’m wondering what effect the 1812 New Madrid earthquakes had on Lake Michigan.
Yes, I do - that's why I said you were in a good place. But other people read these threads, and that's why I mentioned MO. KY had an earthquake yesterday, not a big one, but where there are small earthquakes, there is potential for a bigger one. Out there, I'd certainly prep for tornado/power outage first. But think how heartbreaking to find all that food destroyed by an earthquake.
Were I in FL then I might consider constructing a mott, place the tank on top, then bury the whole thing.
Of course, if one were to build an earth sheltered home with a shielded patio to begin with then there would be no need for a buried 30,000 galon tank...
Perhaps it is a cesspool? They are often round with pretty big openings.
