TheBlaze/AP) Paula Broadwell first met fellow West Point graduate David Petraeus in the spring of 2006, when she was a graduate student at Harvards Kennedy School of Government.
He was a lieutenant general working on a counterinsurgency manual that would be tested during his command in Iraq. The university had invited him to give a speech.
Broadwell was in the Army Reserve after being recalled three times to active duty since the Sept. 11 attacks to work on counterterrorism issues and intended to return to active duty or get into the policy world, according to the preface of the Petraeus biography she would later write with a Washington Post editor.

General James Mattoon Scott: Where are you now that we need you?
I was in Saudi in 1990. King Khalid Airport. We were in a compound build for the third worlders. Swimming pool included.
Our “compound” became a R & R place for field folks.
We had a battery of Patriots there. One of the security staff was a female LT, who was very attractive.
One day she showed up in a yellow bikini. Her and 500 other guys hanging out at the pool.
4 months on the beach and that shows up ?
A little trivial info:
November 07, 2012 - Gen. David Petraeus, the big 60
November 09, 2012 - Paula Broadwell, the big 40
Watch the dates. Her kids are 4 & 6.
If this bastard tries to take our guns, a military coup will be the least of his problems.
Sad to see two careers get trashed...She is married to a radiologist. They don't work cheap...
THIS is the reason odumbi picked him. He knew he could blackmail the General anytime he wanted too.
THE QUESTION IS WILL THE GENERAL FIGHT BACK?
If you read his Dear Abbie letter to the NYT from last year his is also a gurnoode (phonetic spelling, don’t know the Italian). Heard the term in the movie Goodfellas. It means he is a cuckold but content to be a jerk.
Last July 13th, Chuck Klosterman's Ethicist column responded to a very odd request for advice:
MY WIFES LOVER
My wife is having an affair with a government executive. His role is to manage a project whose progress is seen worldwide as a demonstration of American leadership. (This might seem hyperbolic, but it is not an exaggeration.) I have met with him on several occasions, and he has been gracious. (I doubt if he is aware of my knowledge.) I have watched the affair intensify over the last year, and I have also benefited from his generosity. He is engaged in work that I am passionate about and is absolutely the right person for the job. I strongly feel that exposing the affair will create a major distraction that would adversely impact the success of an important effort. My issue: Should I acknowledge this affair and finally force closure? Should I suffer in silence for the next year or two for a project I feel must succeed? Should I be true to my heart and walk away from the entire miserable situation and put the episode behind me? NAME WITHHELD
Perhaps July 13 is about the time her husband confronted her and forced her to end it, with an ultimately positive outcome for the household, which includes two young kids.
“THE QUESTION IS WILL THE GENERAL FIGHT BACK?”
Well he is refusing to testify, so I guess he won’t fight back, I’m thinking Obumer has more on him than just this.
I believe that was debunked by a tweet from Klosterman earlier today.
He said they did some fact checking and it turns out, the person who wrote that letter is NOT the husband.
I read the article at the link in the comments....
this really changes things....
Considering their combined income, that’s pretty tame wheels.
(BMW 3 series and Nissan Pathfinder? I think?)
And being in Charlotte, it’s not like the house payment would be the killer numbers it would cost in NoVa.
Cornuto contento? LOL!
When we were kids, the "compares" used to visit one another. There was this man. He would never talk. He'd just sit there all night. They say to him, "What's the matter? Don't you say anything?" He says, "What am I going to say, that my wife two-times me? So she says, "Shut up! You're always talking!" But in Italian, it sounds much nicer. - Cornuto contento. - That's it. It means he's content to be a jerk. He doesn't care who knows it. Did Tommy tell you about my painting?
MY WIFES LOVER
Who is to say that the story was not planted by the CIA
There must be a video
He went running with the new people to get to know them? No, he went running with the new people to establish his superiority over them. “I can run faster than you, so I am better than you.” We had a lot of this in the Army. Cross country running is not a team sport. It is an individual sport. It brings glory to only the runner. Football is a team sport. The Offensive Tackle has an important and necessary part in every play. We have had cross country leadership in the Army for about 30 years. Think of the psychology of a guy who has to prove that he’s better than you by running. Not even by fighting you.....by running faster than you. You know what that proves? That he’s a better leader? That he’s a better Soldier? Nope. It only proves that he can run a mile faster than you. And when Al-Qaeda agrees to determine victory by a foot race, then, and only then, will running be so important.
I read another article that said she wanted to end the affair when he took the CIA job but Patraeus continued to call and emal her.
Has it come out when/if their relationship really did end?
And people are wondering if she was jealous of a romantic rival for Petraeus. Maybe she was jealous of a BUSINESS rival for Petraeus.
We can always recruit Jared Loughner
AN article also said that it was threatening emails she sent to another woman that caused the FBI investigation to begin with.
The baloney about a gunbattle and forces loyal to 0bama?
The subject of wealthy people and cars comes up once in a while.
‘Wealthy’ does not equal ‘car buff’. And people who intend on KEEPING their wealth tend not to buy flashy cars.
And, BTW, the BMW 3-series is the second most popular car (after the Mercedes E-class) in America’s wealthiest zip codes!
Now that is funny. Euroweenies have great imaginations.
Anyone wanting on or off this ping list, please advise.
Doctors I know drive 7-series.
Their office girls drive 3-series, LOL.
Zillow zestimates the value at $895,281, the mortgage payment at $3,070/mo and the probable rent at $3,070/mo. It last sold for $795K on 17 June 2009.
5BR, 3.5Bath, 3,024sf, central air, unfinished basement.
That EU thing is absurd
So they’re telling us a military gun battle in DuPont Circle doesn’t make the news. Load of crap. The writers have been watching too many movies.
One dog looking this way, the other dog looking that way, and the guy is saying “Whataya want from me.” Excuse the inaccuracies, I did from memory.
Entertainment for a Saturday evening. From euwwwww with love.
What do you call a reverse shiksa?
She is a good looking woman
I wonder if all those 3-series are for the kids.
But there are FReepers familiar with fighter pilots that will attest that the 3-seies is a fighter pilot favorite.
BTW, the 7-series sure look nice but the people I know who have them say they’re outrageously unreliable - just as well buy a Jaguar.
That would be sadistic!
At first I thought - those are the kids’ cars.
But found out the kids are 4 and 6 (don’t know if late start or second marriages, or whatever).
Holy Crap! I kept looking for the “Satire” tag, but there is none...whoa is right...
Another thing to add. In football the object is to win the game. It seems these days winning is not a word in our vocabulary. Think about it, Petraeus is considered some kind of military genius, but where is his wins. He has been involved in what in military history would be called tribal uprisings. Hundreds of British and French generals through the centuries have crushed these in less time and with less resources than Petraeus has. If our men were led by the generals of yore, Iraq and Afghanistan would have been over by 2004.
OK take out the gunbattle/ movie embellishment parts and look at the factions....
She just turned 40 (I read that a party scheduled for today got canceled), her husband is 43, and Petraeus also had a birthday this week, turning 60. The boys are indeed 4 and 6.
I just wonder about the chalk in the driveway in the photo at #11. Perhaps drawn by the husband while the kids looked on, in an effort to calm them down after witnessing a big fight between their parents?
If a woman threatened me because I was “close” to the CIA director, I doubt I’d turn to the FBI for help. Some things in this story don’t make sense.
OK take out the Hollywood stuff (gunbattle) and look at the factions...
Do the people being jettisoned from administration posts fit into a faction?
Unfortunately, the children’s mom decided to be a slut and betray their family and expose them to her skank drama. She is the one who is to protect her own children from the skanks of the world. Unfortunately, she is a skank. The children have nothing to do with this other than being run over by mommy dearest’s skank jeep.
I think it was someone else in gov’t, so they might very well call on the FBI
When I first saw pictures of Paula Broadwell, I said,”General Petraeus is dating Jillian Michaels?” There is hope for me yet!!
I wouldn’t put much past this regime. But this is getting a little far fetched given the fact that the Left will be able to effect a coup through regulatory changes, replacements on the Supreme Court, a weak and spineless Congress and a confederate press corps. They have no need for such heavy handed tactics as pulling a general out of his car at gunpoint. But like you say, gunplay aside, are the factions probable? Sure.
Uhhhh, Petraeus ain't exactly Jillian's Type if you catch my drift.
