Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government. As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:
"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

Can Louisiana blow off its share of the 16,000,000,000,000 debt this way? If so, this makes a lot of economic sense.
As much as I hate that place I’d move there if it left the union. Of course we know that won’t happen. It won’t even happen in Texas.

12 states and a few decades later, I’m in New Hampshire, and well, LA is looking pretty good. Not New Orleans, but rural LA.
IIRC there is only one state that can leave the union. Montana, Nebraska, or possibly Wyoming. They joined with the agreement that they could leave without penalty if their legislature so voted.
Being landlocked would cause serious problems as would being able to defend their borders or conduct business with the remaining states.
Leaving the union sounds attractive but it doesn’t make sense with the exception of large states with ports.
Instead of seceding the state to end their U.S. citizenship, perhaps the people signing the petition should have their U.S. citizenship revoked for assisting the Communists to divide and conquer the United States with treasonous advocation of secession.
Do you not agree with the Declaration of Independence then? Were the Founding Fathers traitors? Do you have a brain? Questions cannot be answered with an uncritical mind. Your’s qualifies.

So... Congress ignores the Constitution for years, yet you think that the States should obey the Constitution. Interesting thought process you have going on there.
Montana has a more than 500 mile border with Canada. Although a port would be great, it is not necessary. Hell, palm trees would be great too...
No I didn’t say that. Walter Williams has often said the states should ling ago have surrounded federal buildings with National Guard troops. I agree with that.
I was just stating that one state did have enough foresight to leave an out.
Not to rain on Louisiana’s parade,BUT . . . their own history disproves the ability of any state to secede from the Union.

An older fellow I work with grew up in Montana in the 30’s and 40’s, and has written many stories about it.
One good one is how in the winter every farm house had ropes strung from the back door to the out buildings. That was because the snow was so deep or falling so intensely people could become disoriented.
He says he would never go back to live there.
I would put up with the heat to live in a free country again. Can this be done?
I was born is Saskatchewan Kanada. Atlantic winters there make the New England winters look like Florida. If La. secedes or even Texas, I would move there. I don’t even know why we have to ask p-resident Jarjar for permission when half the voting population did not even vote for him.
Oh the seasons are nice and an occasional outing in the cold isn’t bad. I’ve been known to shovel knee deep snow in a kilt.
But after decades of HAVING to walk a couple of miles back and forth to work in the dead of winter and doing the nightshift, I prefer a warmer clim.

Obamacare has yet to be fully enacted so nobody has yet to be actually harmed. Nobody’s social security checks have
gone dry. The Government has not YET gone broke.
However, if we go over the cliff and taxes go up, and the
economy slides back into a deeper recession, we could start
to see a slow motion unraveling of societal order or some
outright SHTF riots. IF the Government had a real crisis of
liquidity and had to start picking who to pay and not pay..
ALL bets are off. As Travis McGee has said, this will all
start when the EBT cards don’t worky worky any more.
If that occurs. This petition might be replaced by a million
man march on Washington. And the marchers will be carrying
items much more useful than little signs and sack lunches.

I like the secession idea. If they peacefully choose to secede, refuse to let IRS and FBI into their territory without permission what is the Federal government going to do? This is not 1860, and even there it was hellish fighting which today’ society would not stomach. Plus much of the Army is made up of White southerners who might refuse to take up arms against their hometowns.

My father lived in Missoula in the thirties and when he was 16, with the help of his family and a family friend, lied about his age and joined the Navy. The family couldn’t afford all the kids, but they did the best they could. Of course, the rest of the boys were in the service soon...but he grew up hunting and fishing for food and poor as hell in Missoula. Stayed in the Navy for 27 years, retired a Master Chief when JFK sent the “advisers” to Viet Nam. Never went back to Montana. Used to laugh that he never saw the ocean until he arrived in Port in San Diego and then was never more than a mile or so from it the rest of his life.

their own participation in Obamacare?
The CA,OR,WA,NV cluster would have it. The northeast cluster of blue states would have it. The Midwest WI,MN,IA,IL,OH,MI
blue state cluster would have it.
But, all the rest would not. If you don’t like whats offered
in your cluster, then you have to go to another.

Exactly... It always amazes me when people disregard the
idea that the Federal Government could go broke. I can
GUARANTEE you that the Government doesn’t consider it not
possible. They are war gaming it right now!

1. As far as I know, the Obama administration has no authority to “grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America government”, peacefully or otherwise.
2. I don’t see why Louisiana would need to create its own NEW government, unless they want to establish a monarchy or go communist or something.

What if the 100 million (or whatever) Romney voters all quit
their jobs on the same day, go home and sit. All that
payroll deduction would stop. I think it would bring down
the Government. It’s like a massive go Galt, all at once.
You can’t foreclose and evict that many houses with people
resisting. It would be logistically impossible.
Another tactic would be for all Romney voters to go to the bank and withdraw all funds immediately. THAT would be some nice chaos and completely non-violent.

I commented on other posts that succession would be squashed by force and wouldn’t be possible.
I’d like to recant those comments.
I now believe it would be very possible with the inclusion of several states to remove itself from the union and form a new nation.
The new nation would have to set up diplomatic relations with the united states. New trade commerce. Tariffs . And ways to travel for instance if Ohio and Texas succeeded how would you travel within the new nation.
The declaration of independence gives the states the right to succeed.
Long term plans would be for a peaceful existence with the united states. Of course the succession would not be peaceful . Done through laws and simultaneously with participating states would help prevention of violent actions.

Louisiana already has a state government with a governor, legislature, judiciary and all that goes with it. Withdrawing would necessitate some changes to that government, but I don’t see why withdrawal in and of itself would require a new government.
This was the UN plan years ago, divide and conquer, it is still their plan despite the socialist control of our country. I do re-call forty or so years ago a controversey about a cereal box, I believe one of General Mills, with a map of The United States broken down into six or seven new countries and a UN logo with it. I never personally saw the box but did see what was purported to be photos of it. Does anyone else remember or know anything about this?
If Texas and Louisiana want to secede, maybe more of the southern states will, as well. I don’t think the government will want to let Texas go because of the oil industry. If the southern states want to secede, the media will paint them as racists.
I agree 100%!! The media is saying that Obama won by a significant margin—he only got 50.5% of the popular vote. They are so full of it!! But, they keep repeating stuff like this, and soon, all the sheep believe it.

What do we live on without paychecks? A run on banks would cause a great deal of suffering to the people more than the government.
