Allow Alaskans a free and open election to decide whether or not Alaska should Secede

here is a commonly held belief across Alaska, that the US Constitution has been set aside, and other then ourselves, there are no protections to the liberty and freedoms we are to have as our continued inheritance since the formation of the Union of the "several States". Our main "goal" is a legal vote and ballot; one that was not given in 1958 and was in violation of International Law and Treaty. Alaskans were robbed of the choices we were to have as a non-self-governing territory, and steam-rolled into the current classification of a State. The Native population of Alaska, in a large percentage, did not even receive a ballot because of the Federal Voting Rights Act in place. Alaskans now seek to a statewide free election to decide whether Alaska should be a free and Independent Nation.

Go there and you will see the average Russian hates America and Americans, there are 30-40 percent who want the USSR back and would go to real communism in a heartbeat. The majority of the people want Putin to be more Soviet style dictator than western style politician. I've been refused admittance to more than a few restaurants and shops because I am an American... the Russian mafia with their governments cooperation control most businesses and would sooner kill you than look at you I'm not trying to be an ass but anyone thinking Russia and living in Russia is better than here really is crazy...

Around 10 below as I type and supposed to get down to minus 25 by morning, and that ain’t cold. We’ll have 2-3 weeks minus 60 come January. Super nice summers, good hunting, fishing, just wonderful country without houses everywhere ya look. Actually , we get people move up every spring, can’t wait to leave soon as the roads open nx Spring, most just can’t handle it; others luv the Country. Sure is where we belong. I met Palin many years back in the MatSu. Only political I’d ever believe what she said, sure wish she was still our Governor, did good things here in Ak.

And all of these at once make me think that this is a prank by some liberal trying to make conservatives look foolish. This has all the earmarks of a hoax.

As long as I have food and heat, the winter wouldn't bother me. I watch Gold Rush and think I'd like to have a crack at that. Gold panning that is. It's just a pipe dream though.

Alaska does have a strong Independent party support, there could be some serious thought and actions soon.

The problem of course would be the libs in Anchorage.

Actually I would be willing to bet if any state secedes it will be Alaska first.

Google State Constitutional Conventions. Each State holds their own. It is tedious, but will avoid the bloodshed of our First Civil War.

NEVER ask the Damned US Federal Government for anything. They live in their own World, and only have the power over us that we allow them to have.

Elected Federal Politicians are fewer than 600 on a good day, and we are 300 MILLION everyday! DUH!

Several locals in our community leave every November, come back February. I really like the Winter as much as Summers. Wife and I have our teaching degrees, so have taught in a few villages over the years. Our daughter went off to school in Texas last fall, called today and said it was 80 degrees; just too dang hot I'd say; and I couldn't chase wolves & caribou on the snowmachine either.

Ya know, we do have a bunch of Russkies in Ak, many came for economic reasons and they are now citizens chasing the American dream just like everybody else. They go back to visit relatives in Siberia, but are never moving back to Russia; they say everything, everything is better here. These are educated Russians of German heritage, their German ancestors have been second class citizens for 300 years and they find America so much more to their liking. Have a few for friends and they are conservatives, believe it or not. Their kids all speak perfect English, play sports, enrich Alaska too; but all the Russkies still believe in Russian Hockey, ha ha. I even know one who was in Afghanistan as a Russian. I can't wait to get him up with my Nephew who has been there himself several times. Most of the Russkies I have met are ok, quite appreciative of the USA.

During the American revolution several ststes in New England area including MASS were going to suceed from the 13 colonies...

They had sent their young men and had been fighting and dying for years...

George Washington had made them certain promises or they thought he had or imagined he should and they hadnt been paid nor had they received any supplieds or armament or food from the Continental army..

The crops and farms and families back home were neglected and they were deserting in disgust..

a secret convention place and date was set and delegates from each of the 4 or 5 states were chosen to attend...

I dont remember what happened to cause the convention and the idea to be cancelled but George was in dangewr for a while of losing much of his ready army and the war...

anyhoo the War of Northern Agression was not the 1st time a few states had planned to suceed...

and now here again...

When in the course of human events...

Hey Eye, haven't talked of late. Is AIP still strong in the MatSu? Had some friends involved, actually went to Begich's (Nick) house with them in late 90's when they were trying to get him for Governor. Now if the Indians ever took over AIP, might go somewheres.

We only got one moose this fall and a few caribou, few bear. Picked up a 308 Scar this PFD day; my new hunting gun nx season. Haven't seen many wolves, got to do some riding when kids come home from school at Xmas. Anyway, what's new and exciting in MatSu?

When I was younger I thought Texas was hot but since I have been spending alot of time in Southeast Asia it doesn't bother me but I still like the cold best. I think the Ruskies that got out are different by nature than the folks still there....

I read over 45 years ago that ALASKA was one state which could do without the US.

The most co-depedent state requiring US help was HAIWAII.

May you be “blessed” by the Federal government taking 90% of your land an making it into a park, for you to tend for them. Or telling you not to dig up your coal, just freeze in the dark. Or dig for gold, cause holes in the ground 6” or less are drinking water, but holes bigger than 6” are poisonous mine waste...

Oh, and thanks for the support and grateful heart for all the oil we were able to ship to you despite the graces of the EPA.

You ingrateful sot you.

Those German Russians you referenced are known as Volga Deutch. They were encouraged to move there by Catherine the Great most are either Lutheran or Roman Catholic. At the onset of WWII Stalin had moved many of them (There are a number still living along the Volga in Russia.) to Siberia.
