Petraeus told within last six weeks of probe that found affair

FBI investigators confronted then CIA Director David Petraeus within the last six weeks about his relationship with biographer Paula Broadwell, Fox News has learned -- a detail that comes as lawmakers complain they did not know about the issue until Petraeus resigned Friday.

A source, who is not authorized to speak on the record about the FBI investigation due to its sensitive nature, characterized the meeting between Petraeus and Bureau agents as “recent, and within the last six weeks.”

Asked when Broadwell was confronted, Fox News was told “a little before that.”

Asked why the FBI did not brief Congress immediately when Petraeus’ name surfaced within the scope of the investigation, the source said decisions on notification “should all play out next week” -- a reference to a half dozen Capitol Hill hearings and briefings on the Benghazi consulate attack.

He was using a pseudonym and they weren’t really that interested in the sex emails, because they were trying to investigate the harrassing emails sent to Kelley.

Impeached, but not removed. Same as Slick, and a leftist idiot to this day will deny that Slick was impeached. lol

So what we’re finding out here is that within days of the 09/11/12 fiasco, the FBI was telling Petraeus they had some dirt on him...

So glad to know the timing indicates that this couldn’t have been Benghazi timing related...

Oh wait!

We’re seeing some high stakes poker here IMO. Makes me wonder what else the White House has on the general. They just showed they’re willing to dump info, so he’s on record now.

Keeping Hillary close may have been a great idea. She’s tops when it comes to covering criminal behavior.

From your link...

"On her computer, investigators found classified documents, the U.S. officials said, a discovery that raised new concerns."

Well well well

Holly Petraeus may have known about affair all along - family friends tell Fox. Why reveal it now...just days before Petraeus to testify?

Petraeus was pressured into making the statement three days after Benghazi that it was related to the video. More than likely, he was offered a deal to keep things quiet and keep his job. Ultimately, duty, honor, and country won out and he resigned. Of course. Clapper helped move things along once he found out.

Never know when the Chicago Thugs might need a little help creating
a lie about a video causing Benghizi. Ironic that Betrayus and the CIA
Just happened to clone to the same conclusion early on.

We don’t know how classified, or where she told them that she got them from, but apparently her answer satisfied them.

Sounds plausible but thin.

“Why reveal it now...just days before Petraeus to testify?”

Because it was all unravelling and getting ready to come out. He can testify at a later date.

From WSJ article

“She also said Mr. Petraeus wasn’t the source of the documents.”

If not her, then who?

He can testify at a later date.

Sure, why not? It's not like the country is waiting to find out why he lied about the hoax 'video' or whether or not the CiC is a total craven coward who turned his back on 41 State and CIA employees and left them to sink or swim with al Qaeda. Maybe a few months in the Caribbean with his wife will patch his marriage up so well no one will care about those silly embassies and consulates.

I share your opinion and if Petraeus has an ounce of honor and loyalty to this country <<

an ounce!!....Ive seen pounds given from enlisted men...(check the wall)....What can a General give his country when it counts?..... IMHO...His only "personnel" salvation is to tell the truth...Lets see what hes made of?

I work long hours and have no access to TV. That said, I need an update on the latest with the FBI and petraeus scandal. What exactly is the latest findings and logical train of thought. Reading the posts responses I’m not too clear as to what has happened/or going to happen. Thanks in advance.

I’m afraid it does come down to this. He may have given forty great years of service to his country in uniform but is any of it worth a dime if he walks out on his oath now?

The latest is that this affair is a diversion from a dead ambassador, a state department employee, and two CIA contractors. And that the CinC refused to authorize military assistance to these people. General Petraeus wants some time to get his life in order because his $iitbucket is full. And Hillary does not have time to answer questions from the Legislature.
