So much for charity.
Organizers of the New York City Marathon, who routinely crow about all the money the race raises for good causes, doled out only $494,000 in direct aid last year less than what they paid their CEO, Mary Wittenberg, records show.
New York Road Runners Inc., the nonprofit host of the marathon, raked in $53.8 million in revenue in 2011 and handed over the bulk of its direct charitable contribution, $208,340, to support its own kids programs.
Meanwhile, Wittenberg earned $500,843. The median CEO salary last year for a Northeast non-profit the size of NYRR was $294,593, according to the watchdog Charity Navigator.
In total, NYRR paid its top seven executives, including Wittenberg, more than $1.8 million, the filing shows.
The tax returns show the organization also paid more in fees to groups affiliated with its board members than it did to charity last year.

While the numbers may not be as stark, Koman’s “Run for the Cure” does much the same thing.
It’s an organization whose purpose is to organize road races. It spends most of its money organizing road races.
New York Road Runners began providing youth programs in 1998. The foremost running organization in the world, NYRR’s premier event is the ING New York City Marathon. NYRRs running-based youth programs promote childrens physical fitness, character development, and personal achievement in under-served communities. Our youth programs currently serve as many as 100,000 children a week in hundreds of schools and community centers. Having proven successful in New York City, the programs are now being established across the United States and in Africa.
That is the New York Road Runners Foundation which is a charity financed by the NYRR.
The NYRR itself is a running organization.
Why should it pay anything? The state with the help fo FEMA is in charge of fixing what nature broke.
From the mission statement:
Our youth programs currently serve as many as 100,000 children a week,,,
If these "youth programs" were to last just 26 weeks, the donations would amount to less than 20 cents per child per week.....or do I nbeed more coffee?
“Liberal “charity” keeps 99% of fundraising proceeds for it’s cronies and pays out less than 1% to charity.”
Tax them on what they don’t dole out. Tax all those stupid foundations that libs use to destroy consevative values.
If Wile E. Coyote wasn’t so damn inept, I would have sent him after these road runners.
