If Kelley was a close friend of Petraeus, why would she go to the FBI instead of Petraeus? I'm sure this same scenario plays out about serveral millions of times a year, but I doubt anybody thinks to run to the FBI first. Smells like a musty old mustache, like that thing hanging on Axelrod’s face.

ANYONE could have written the NYT that letter,

... then again it could be completely unrelated.

I imagine there are details to be found in Florida, Northern VA and DC, ripe for the picking.
All one needs to do is look.

The affair is what Petraeus used to justify his resignation. His resignation ensures he will never have to speak about what he KNOWS about Benghazi.

Ever hear of the term "subpoena" and the subsequent "swearing under oath?"

As a side note, I doubt that a subpoena will be necessary to get the General to appear. But if it is, then it's likely a legal formality........

Whatever the case may be, the General will be testifying.........

Why would he need to have been told of the investigation right away? I don’t think that’s required of even garden variety workplace investigations.

“...*may* have prompted emails....”, the excerpt reports above. Then it reports in the last sentence “....he sent the emails. “, in the excerpt.

Just read on Drudge the AP account is that he didn’t know about the threats, was *shocked* to hear of the threats to friend in Tampa!

Alinsky wave in progress.

Also, AP reports he didn’t account for classified material found on Broadwell’s computer, someone else did it.... LOL! A must read 3rd column, top story. ( I wondered if the two contacted one another after being exposed.)

I have the feeling that given the seriousness of the charge, the two were warned NOT to impair or impede the investigation by any further contact or dialogue between them, don’t you? I dunno, since no charges were brought, maybe he was freed to fuss at her for harrassing his social friend in Tampa.

Thanks very much for the ping. I have been covering every printed word today, but haven’t had TV news on since the election. Devastated here.

I agree, Romulus! Mrs. P looks to me like a nice lady. Her appearance is none of our business and I find it offensive for a 60yo woman to be criticized for not trying to make herself a sex kitten.

No kidding. This version contradicts points that were news yesterday. 1) FBI said it wasn't Broadwell who sents the threats. (just came from her computer) 2.) Kelley didn't know who sent the threats, they were under a screenname. 3.) The threats didn't identify Petraeus as who Kelley was supposed to stay away from.

That may have prompted the CIA director to send his own e-mails to Broadwell,...

May have? Solid reporting by the ComPost. /s

The reporting on this story smells a lot like MSM smokescreen.

Pat Caddell called it. Do you believe it yet?

Pat Caddell slams the media: They have become an “enemy of the people” Sept. 29, 2012(video 26:00)

Emotional Pat Caddell on the MSM ignoring Benghazi: “These people have no honor!” Oct. 27, 2012 (video at link 4:06)

The Media will not report the truth!

-- I don't think you can plead the 5th before congress --

If you are granted immunity, then you must testify. And, Congress has the power to grant immunity. Absent a grant of immunity, an individual has the right to assert the fifth amendment.

I also want his wife to lose 50 pounds, buy some appropriate and flattering clothes, get a good hairdresser and have a couple of lessons in applying a touch of make-up.

ditto... in the pic of her in her youth, she looked au naturale and attractive... but her natural look is not attractive today... i hate to say she let herself go, and in a perfect world, it should not matter... but it does--especially in this case... it doesn't excuse him, and there's no guarantee had she remain attractive that he would have stayed faithful... but in the colloquial words of today--"just sayin'"

"I don’t think you can plead the 5th before congress"

Oh, yes you can. Unless you are granted immunity. Which Holder will not grant because he wants Petraeus to shut up.

I seem to recall Denise Rich (among others) plead the fifth over and over during the Clinton pardongate hearings.

What do you mean “not a target” and why can’t the head of the CIA be investigated?

My thanks to both of you for standing up for Mrs. P. I too get so sick and tired of 50-55-60-65 year old women being treated as failures, if they happen to carrying 40-50 extra pounds, dress matronly, don’t dye their hair, and aren’t in to spending hundreds of dollars on overpriced (faux) cosmetics.
