Stray Syrian Mortars Put Israel on High Alert

JERUSALEM, Israel -- A second mortar shell landed in northern Israel Monday, a day after Israel fired a warning shot into Syria in response to a Syrian mortar that hit the Golan Heights.
Over the weekend, Israel came under fire on both its northern and southern borders.
"We understand that this was a mistake and the mortar was not meant to target Israel and then, this is why we actually fired warning shots in retaliation," Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Lt. Col. Avital Leibovich said.
Sunday marked the first time since the 1973 Yom Kippur War that Israel fired into Syria, raising fears that Syria's civil war will draw the Jewish state into the conflict.
Are Israelis worried about being dragged into war? CBN News Middle East Bureau Chief Chris Mitchell has more, following his report.
"Israel will do everything that is needed in order to bring quiet and safety to the people of Israel who live in the northern part of our country," Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom said.
On Israel's southern border, more than 100 rockets have slammed into towns like Sderot since Saturday, some scoring direct hits.
Israeli officials blamed Hamas, the Palestinian faction controlling the Gaza Strip, and threatened to escalate its military response.
"The Hamas terror chieftains, they cannot hide," Energy and Water Minister Uzi Landau said. "They will have to be a target themselves until those things are over."
While the rocket attacks kept Israeli residents shaken, Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned Israel could launch a major operation to stop the terror groups.
Noam Bedein, with the Sderot Media Center, said Israelis in the south have endured this situation for years.
"Over a decade it somehow became acceptable," Bedein told CBN News. "People don't even know where, of a reality, we have rockets being fired toward civilian populations. That's the absurd."
As an Artilleryman, a LTC who was investigating a firing incident once told me, “Son, God does not come down and slap artillery rounds out of the sky, there is no such thing as an errant artillery round”!
They’s jus poking da bear.
I think it’s possible Isaiah 17:1 may be in the future.
Regardless, keep your gas tanks full, if you can. Unless you’re in NYC, that is.
Don’t forget Isaiah 5:20-21
If it is coming from Syria, chances are it may be from one of the Islamic Terrorist organizations that Obama is funding and arming.
Gosh, it must be Saudi-sponsored Sunni terrorists masquerading as Syrian regular army — y’know, for those who will fall for pretty much anything.
