The independent states of America: Tens of thousands demand to secede from U.S.

Bid for freedom: People from the states marked in red have lodged petitions asking to break away from the rest of the United States since Obama returned to the White House

Although America carried President Obama confidently into a second term last Tuesday - not everyone is jumping for joy at the prospect of four more years.

Tens of thousands have put their names to secession petitions in 20 states, asking that they peacefully become independent from the rest of the country.

The documents have been lodged on a government website We The People - and Texas has almost enough people behind its petition to warrant an official White House response.

“Obama sees the Department of Homeland Security developing into a blanket organization that will keep US residents in line”

The organiation with the Nazi-sounding name, that has the same manpower as the USMC and TWICE the budget? Homeland security must go.

Well, I guess it would depend on the governor of a respective state using administrative power to federalize the state’s guard and activate the militia. Has a governor of any state signed a secession petition?

Leftist are like locust after they exhaust every hard earned resource of their native state (or area) before moving on to our homes to start the process over again.

They won’t learn from the failure of their evil ideology and its self-destructive impact upon their own state and instead chasing us and our prosperity to the ends of the earth sneaking to steal it.

Best way to discourage influx of liberals is for the individual states to shut off all acceptance of federal welfare aid, and then to shut down any and all government welfare, assistance etc. The upper class liberals who move in are still not enough in numbers to vote in their liberal government without the huge influx of welfare dependents also voting Democrat.

Let any aid provided for the poor in states to be handled by churches and private charities as it was in times past, and let them hold recipients accountable for change. Those who are truly just lazy leeches would not be attracted to a state like that and in fact would leave and go back to “welfare friendly” states. I bet a lot of states would be willing to provide free bus fare back to liberal coastal states.

Also put in place agressive teaching of constitutional government, starting in elementary school, in every school in the state. (And where possible decontruct public school systems for independent charter and private schools, locally controlled.)

If states shut off aid, welfare folks would have no desire to move to Red states, and I don’t think there would be enough upper/middle class libs moving in to change the demographics.

LOL! Yeah, FRiend, and I don’t even believe in doomsday scenarios. Obama is the dreadful beast I’m watching, and the left are his minions. No need for pretty little fairy and kitten calendars. Make mine strictly utilitarian, with Bible quotations and the stirring words of great American patriots. Every day’s square for the next four years will have a big black ‘X’ marked through it.

Wow, she’s like the young character, “Gibson Praise” in the X-Files. Call Mulder and Scully! The “blonde moments” are simply electrochemical burp anomalies across alien/human synoptic tangles. Give her lime gatorade twice a day. Hopefully, your daughter will predict a presidential impeachment; thereby, giving hope to the armed-right “right arm”, right-on! —of America!

I think that’s the point.

If obama tries to flex his muscles and bully that state into backing down, I could see a groundswell of opposition to him.

Imagine if 10 other states also rebelled and declared secession?

How far could he spread the effort to stamp it out?

Actually I live in a GOP controlled Nassau County. My party registration dates from a time when it was possible to be an active democrat and a patriot. You don’t have the slightest inkling of how I taught, and yes I am still comparing you to Mathews. You don’t like it? Tuff!! Suffa!!!

1) I don’t believe that is correct; 2) it wouldn’t be just the US Army.

These petitions are about the equivalent of putting a sign on a tree at your camp that reads “no grizzly bears allowed”

Tens of thousands voluntarily put their names on list of anti-government subversives.

How far could Obama spread it? Try from sea to shining sea. It wouldn’t just be the army, it would be all the armed forces, with the possible exception of the USNG and some veteran militias. Some would defect, but many of your own state’s citizenry would rise up against you to support the Feds. He has everybody from FEMA to the EPA and Homeland security armed to the teeth. He has the power to shut down communications, transportation, etc. And he would! Even though I believe it wouldn’t succeed, I would be fighting too. I’m just too pragmatic a person to believe the states can successfully break from the iron grip of the ObamaNation.

Riiight, like before FDR? So you're really a super-secret double-agent Republican union-thug educrat....Let's face it, you're a RAT because of the union.

You don’t have the slightest inkling of how I taught,

Doesn't matter. Inside the socialist indoctrination centers, you either tow the RAT party-line, or you're one of the rare teachers that gets fired for some made-up reason. OUT on yer @$$!

You could have at least become a teacher in a private school and have some modicum of credibility...but I'll bet the pay and bennie cuts were just too much for your cushy publicly financed lifestyle.

I am still comparing you to Mathews.

Absolutely unfounded and unfathomable. But I'm sure you are actually a real nice person otherwise.

Well, it didn’t look too serious at first, but it’s now headed for 100,000. At what number does this get the attention of foreign holders of US Treasury bonds? At what number do they start dumping them—slowly at first, but then with increasing seriousness, then with panic (since, presumably, seceding states wouldn’t honor their portion of the US debt)? Could a little ole petition from Texas crash the US dollar? Could a crashed dollar then lead to real secession? History is littered with less probable black swans than this.

For want of a nail the shoe was lost. . .

77,400 now.

Which may seem like alot, but there are 6 million people in the Houston/surrounding areas alone.

This is all very interesting, though.

When your brain catches up to your keypad let me know. One I taught in Catholic schools for 13 years. Two, I was a teacher whose students were never able to identify my political leanings. And that’s the way it should be. Three, I was not just a rare teacher, I was a Great teacher who practiced guerilla education. You allow the supervisors to see what they want while you actually teach the kids how to think. Four, If Scoop Jackson, Pat Moynihan, Cong Jim Delany, and a host of others weren’t patriots then your definition of patriotism is as narrow as Jim Robinson’s definition of conservative. Five, I have friends in the Rockaways, the Jersey Shore, and Staten island who lost most or everything. Some of them lost friends and neighbors to the storm and if you think that’s a good start then yes you are as bad as Mathews. But he’s a drunk, what’s your excuse?
