Here's the TV Pool Report verbatim on Defense Secretary Panetta's comments about Benghazi, spoken today in session with reporters aboard his flight to Perth, Australia:
One of the things that we are doing right now is we are involved in an assessment btwn DOD and the state department to look at the embassies in that region and what additional steps need to be taken in order to ensure the security of our embassies. So we do need to look at how we can A, improve security and 2, be able to effectively respond if there are any threats.
With regards to Benghazi itself, I think this has been pointed out, we moved very quickly to deploy the forces that we thought were important to deal w/ the threats in the region. We deployed those forces as quickly as we could. But the problem w/ Benghazi itself is the events there were happening on rapid pace, that attack was largely over by the time of response.
Q more troops?
The fact is, we had them deployed to the key areas that we needed to have them move from. And you know, we have so many bases in the area, obviously siganella was one of those bases, but Roda as well as other bases in the region. The fundamental fact is this: in order for us to be able to move quickly we have to have some advance notice that something is going to happen and in this case we didnt have that. When we were informed the attack was already happening, and to be able to respond quickly when an attack is already going on, just make it very difficult to be able to move as quickly as we would have wanted to.
So, in order to be able to respond 'quickly' to an enemy attack, they have to holler "ready or not, here we come" first? The incompetence rampant in the Obama administration, from the top down, defies description.
Pinhead Penetta. What an idiot.
This idiotic statement clearly disqualifies Paneta from having anything to do with the military - especially the position of SecDef. Shameful.
What an idiot. Further proof that America is on a downward spiral. Clueless hack.
Sorry to say this but our Government (many branches) have been and are lying to the public about Benghazi! So this is what we have come to...
Probably has happened before but was not so obvious as this and never uncovered. The worst is that most of America is so stupid that they will believe anything coming from our grand “leaders”. Go get’em “Kim-so-Obama”.
So fortunate for Pinhedda that Al Queda always pulls its punches.
With the greatest, most highly trained and technologically superior military on the planet all it would have taken early on was a simple “GO” and there would have been AQ shit guts and feathers everywhere.
Yes, I can CLEARLY see why Colin Powell would endorse this administration.
So, the rebellion in Libya has been going on for almost 2 years and has been a full fledged war zone. What more “advanced notice” do these idiots need? Panetta has confirmed he is as worthless as I always thought he was.

Arbeit macht frei!
If only I had advance notice of pending major stock market declines, I could keep from losing lots of money!
Or, if only I had advance notice of a pending fatal accident, I could save myself!
The list is endless when you live in la-la land as libtards do.
That is grotesque and surreal enough to suit this situation.
1) Only the POTUS can authorize a CBA (cross border authority) command for a rescue mission in a foreign nation.
Plus Fact Two:
2) No rescue mission was attempted.
Equals Fact Three:
3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day.
What did he think was happening when they blew up one of the walls of the mission in June? Why did the British move out? What constitutes advance notice?
Maybe the president could have authorized some air power.
assessment = cover up
If Panchetta is one of the "best and brightest" as advertised. This Country is in deep, deep sh*t
This clown would have a tough time pouring pee out of his boot (with directions written on the heel).

... and that of so many failures in charge, throughout history. There has to be some “medal” that is awarded every quarter at each military academy, to the cadet or midshipman who utters in class, “If I’d only known the time and the place.”
That award, should be henceforth called Panetta’s Fig Leaf Cluster.

A first for FR, LOL. Wondering what the comment would have been?
