Former Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele is floating the idea of running for his old post again.
In an interview on C-SPAN on Sunday, Steele was first asked if he thought current RNC Chairman Reince Priebus should run for another term. Priebus has suggested that he is leaning toward running for reelection.

Steele wasn’t great, but he’s better than Priebus, Priebus was an absolute disaster.
Oh no...not this dipshit again!
RINO
Awwww! Hell Naw!
Would he be better or worse than the activist Preibusly known as Reince?
I think not, Mr. Steele, you only get one bite at the apple, and you missed the first time!
One is as bad as the other.
I believe Steele is part of the reason why we got Preibus in the first place ....
next thing you know they will be floating another bush for president...
oh wait.
No Steele , period.
Steele was dreadful. Incompetent. If we want a Black Chairman, go with either Ken Blackwell or Col. West.
send in the clowns.
Palin should run....I think she’d be perfect.
Steele immediately called us a bunch of racists after being ousted.
The RINO faction never seems to learn.
Rush Limbaugh would be fine.
Pun-tacular!
How about we find a Conservative to head the RNC, no wait that would mean Karl Rove isn’t calling the shots and picking the nominate, ok my mistake sarc!
fail
fail
People are suggesting that Steele was responsible for the 2010 wave.
Has it really been that long that people forget what an absolute disaster he was?
I agree. A disaster. All you have to is look at all the election results. Pitiful!
fail
I disagree Priebus was better than Steele. However Priebus’s error in Missouri senate race should cost him his job.
Seriously, given a choice between Preibus or Steele, Steele at least presided over one of the greatest electoral victories in Republican history. Preibus couldn’t find his own derrier with either hand!
Steele won. Preibus lost. You have a misperception of what politics is about ~ for me it’s about the winning!
Steel voted for Obama that was the last straw for me
There were racists who wanted him out. That’s an incontrovertible fact. They still want him out.
You’re kidding.
Who won 2010? Who was the RNC presiding officer at the time? Even if he did nothing that appears to have been the right thing to do at the time. Your boy Preibus is the dude who withheld funds from Akin.
They wanted him out for being a failure and incompetent, for which you and I have discussed repeatedly. Are you related to him ?
I wasn’t aware that moderate scumbag was a race but I guess that makes me a racist to moderate scumbags everywhere.
The Tea Party and the Conservative base. The folks RINOs like Steele disdained.
Apparently you didn’t like the 2010 victory. That was all that was important.
Shirley he isn’t... series?
But he didn’t intefere in what they were doing to win and didn’t cut off funds and in the end spoke up for SocCons and the TEAParty ~ Preibus sold his soul to a loser.
Of course it is usual for the opposing party to win the midterms.
Preibus isn’t “my boy”, and I little other than contempt for the RNC for years of organizational failure. I’ve never donated money to them, and won’t be rushing to do so anytime soon.
I may stay involved with TEA Party activism, but the RNC is dead to me at this point.
It was a mistake the first time.
What did Steele have to do with 2010 ? You have this rather cockeyed viewpoint shared by no one else here on his role in the matter. Why are you defending this incompetent individual who pandered to RINOs ? Are you related to him ?
If Allen West doesn’t make it back to Congress, he would also be an excellent choice.
We have people here who think his having had 3 wives, two of them felons, is more important than his service to the American people ~
No that was the last straw for me to hell with him
“Hip Hop” Steele?
Lord have mercy...Of course he is right up the GOP’s alley!
I say this as an Akin supporter, no amount of money Priebus or anyone else could’ve lavished on him would’ve saved that race. Akin had a lead and blew it with that one single comment. No Republican male should open their mouth on the subject of pregnancy via rape, because no matter how well-intentioned, it blows up in their face. Had Akin and Mourdock kept quiet and addressed other issues, both would be Senators-elect.
We now have fewer RINOs ~ and there will be fewer in the future.
The RNC chairman should not be picking winners and losers like Preibus tried to do ~ he probably lost us 12 seats in the Senate besides losing the general election. His involvement in skullduggery in state primaries began early ~ he was always known to be a Romney partisan anyway.
Better the Chairman speak well of everyone with soft words and stay out of politics.
And since the GOP is interested in re-treads, they might as well run McCain again too.
First principles first ~ Steele is full bore Right to Life. The other stuff is second.
BTW, the Utah crowd guessed wrong all the way around ~ all their plans crashed.
For the record, I don’t want Priebus reelected, either. But a return to Steele is 100% unacceptable. I paid close attention to him, and he demonstrated precisely why I had him almost dead last in whom should have that job (with only the execrable Saul Anuzis below him) back in 2009. We need new blood. A ruthless fighter, not a gutless wonder.
Well, whatever, Preibus was a disastrous choice. All those state chairmen or national committeemen who voted for him should bow out of Republican politics now. Their judgment was quite faulty.
