Cheap Thrillz, homecoming queen and voted the 'most likely to be remembered' [Broadbent]
Daily Mail (UK) ^ | 12 November 2012 | By LAURA COLLINS IN NORTH DAKOTA and THOMAS DURANTE

Before she went 'All In' with David Petraeus, biographer Paula Broadwell was driven to succeed at a North Dakota high school, where she was named student council president and valedictorian.

Broadwell, 40, was revealed late last week to be the woman who engaged in an extramarital affair with the disgraced former general, forcing him to resign from his position as CIA director.

But in 1991, she was known back then as Paula Kranz, who attended Century High School in Bismarck, where she was voted homecoming queen and 'most likely to be remembered' in the school's yearbook. A former coach at the school described her as a young woman who 'knew what she wanted and would go after it.'

She also played lead violin in the school orchestra, dominated on the basketball court, and loved a newly-formed band called Cheap Thrillz.

Driven to succeed: Known then as Paula Kranz, Broadwell was named student council president and valedictorian at Century High School in Bismark, North Daokta

Surrounded by friends: Broadwell, second from left, is congratulated by friends after she was crowned homecoming queen

She was also regarded as an exceptional public speaker, with one telling caption under a Yearbook photo reading simply, 'Paula Kranz gives one of her many speeches to an auditorium full of students.' Her high school maxim was, the rather earnest, 'God has given me all of these gifts to use to the best of my ability.'

Many people knew her for her numerous awards: the AUU/Mars Milky Way Foundation Scholar, All State Tournament for girls basketball, North Dakota State Student Council President, and a remarkable 36 other achievements.

Isn’t sad that we have to depend on the tabloid papers from Britain to get our news????? They have MORE meat than the PRAVDA/US/MEDIA does. Sad, but true. Remember when I lived there during the Clinton escapade. They had MORE coverage than the US media did. Be it smutty or not. (Of course.....the UK papers THRIVE on smut).

So glad I'm just an ordinary muggle. These Superstar-Barbie-and-Ken-sparkly-vampire-Griffindor-wizard people just plain suck.

Well, she seems like the “All American” girl to me. Really cute and wholesome looking. Amazing what a few years can do.

I wish SNL would bring back that skit called “What Were You Thinking???”

The host walks up to celebrities who stepped in it, offers leading facts, and concludes with the question: “WHAT were you THINKING???”

“Paula Broadwell. Celebrity biographer and military analyst. Homecoming queen, high school valedictorian and star athlete...”

“Yes...”

“West Point graduate, Harvard post-graduate, lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves...”

“Yes...”

“Married to a successful doctor, successful writer in you’re own right, two beautiful children, idyllic home, in an upscale neighborhood...”

“Yes...”

“Had an affair with a four-star general in a warzone and sent threatening e-mails to other women he was acquainted with, and began a criminal investigation over possible national security breaches...”

“Yeeessss....”

“WHAT were you THINKING???”
