Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are requesting the sale of $7.6 billion worth of Lockheed Martin missile-defense systems from the Pentagon. The two Gulf States are interested in the defense contractor’s Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon systems as well as Lockheed’s Aegis weapons system. Qatar requested two THAAD fire units, 12 launchers, and 150 interceptors while the UAE requested 48 THAAD missiles and nine launchers. The current THAAD systems, designed to intercept short-, medium-, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles, are specifically optimized to deter missile attacks from Iran and North Korea. The proposed sale, which is almost certainly to be approved by Congress, would add to the ultimate goal of creating a regional missile shield coordinated by U.S. systems. This comes at a time when Arab countries along the Gulf worry about retaliatory strikes against their countries if Israel or the United States were to attack Iran’s nuclear program.

I can see dear leader turning this down. Qatar and UAE are arab countries that we get oil from - not something he really wants to import - and the less oil supplied to the US, the higher the price; plus, they do not really threaten Israel, thus no reason to help them. On the other hand, if any arab countries export terrorism, especially to the US - Israel too, dear leader would be tripping over himself to help them out with whatever they need.

Is this a joke? First of all Qatar and the UAE have financially backed all the “rebels” who turned out to be sunni extremists all over the middle east. They are big fans of the Muslim brotherhood. I dont understand how you do not see Israel surrounded by extremist sunni states as non threatening to its existence.
They may be small countries population wise but they are financiers of terror, do not be mistaken about it. Once they have their fully sunni dominated middle east they will eradicate any presence of a minority within their borders. The treatment of christians in Iraq, egypt and coming soon Syria.

The money from this sale, if it ever takes place, wouldn’t even smooth out the financial hit the defense contractors are taking from 0bamacare and “sequestration”. Tell the countries that 0bama’s “Arab spring” is all they need to keep themselves warm.

Besides, why would they want to buy missile defenses that our own liberals have told us from the 1980s never worked, and never CAN work? The American people have been saved from this wasteful spending by the Russians, and our own liberals. Yet these chumps are BEGGING to buy this crap? Can we sell them a million Chevy Volts as part of the deal?

This is the exact same system 0bama has stiffed Poland and other NATO allies over, and has promised Putin more deals favorable to Putin now that he’s still at the White House.

Better make sure there’s a Trojan horse installed in that system or they will use it to defend themselves when they are disovered to be the very element that are funding terrorist activities within the U.S. borders.

Greed has no loyalties.

No way, they love each other like siblings!

Of course, they do view each other as an adulterous sister, so...

Thanks Cronos.
