53 percent of Americans would blame GOP for ‘failure to avert crippling fiscal cliff’

Washington, Nov. 14 (ANI): Americans are prepared to blame Congressional Republicans for failure to avert the fiscal cliff, according to a new poll.

According to the Washington Post-Pew Research Center Poll, 53 percent of Americans said the GOP would be at fault, compared with 29 percent who said the same of Barack Obama.

The poll found that nearly 10 percent said that both would be to blame.

While 51 percent of Americans don’t expect a deal, Democrats have substantially more faith than Republicans in the ability of President Barack Obama and Congressional Republicans to compromise.

Two-thirds of Republicans are not anticipating a deal, and only a quarter expect one.

However, a plurality of Democrats, 47 percent to 40 percent, expects Obama and the GOP to reach an agreement, Politico reports.

Congressional Republicans are likely to face the blame for any impact.

The fiscal cliff would amount to a giant removal of cash from the economy. On Jan. 1, 2013, the Bush-era tax cuts would expire, along with a payroll tax cut introduced by the 2009 stimulus bill.

While 68 percent of Americans think it will have a major impact on the American economy, a significantly smaller number, 44 percent, expect it to have a major impact on their own personal financial situation.

Nearly 62 percent expect the impact on the economy to be mostly negative, while 20 percent think the impact will be positive, it added.

Enough of the gotdam polls.

Enough already. 53% of Americans voted for President a-hole they already think everything is the GOP’s fault. Fug them and what they think.

Obama is the head Lemming leading them over that cliff. He wants it. It does everything he wants.

Let ‘er go, we are going to get the shaft sooner or later anyway, might as well be now.

Americans would blame the Repubs or the Pravda would blame Repubs? Pravda would lead the charge and Americans would believe.

This is a push poll. I would prefer the verb “credit” to the verb “blame”. If the USA hits the fiscal cliff I will credit the Republicans in congress. The media is trying to make us think the fiscal cliff is bad.

Not only that, but a nation too lazy to use proper capitalization is doomed to fail.

What is this. Junior High?

We’re supposed to do a bunch of stupid stuff, that we know is wrong, so “they” will like us?

The behavior is “stupid and wrong” because it doesn’t work, and is contrary to our values.

Do we expect they will like us if we cooperate in our mutual destruction?

When it doesn’t work, will they not blame us anyway?

When a REAL solution is needed and wanted, will “they” turn to us or trust us?

“They will take the blame no matter what they do or don’t do. They will be blamed for any bad outcome, fiscal cliff or not. If any good happens, Obama will get the credit. Those things are preordained. There is no way around them. So, the way I see it, the ‘Pubs have nothing to lose by doing the right thing, which probably is to let it crash.”

Actually, I agree with this, in that under a media barrage by the Democrats and MSM, most Americans *would* believe that it was the Republicans fault. I can say this, because that is exactly what happened during the Clinton years.

That is, Clinton shut down the government by refusing to sign budget bills, and the Republicans could not override him, and the Democrats and the MSM blamed the Republicans, and the public believed the lies. Eventually the Republicans caved.

HOWEVER,

Right now the congress is a lame duck. Granted that with a government shut down, the Republicans would both be blamed and come under intense pressure — at first.

But as the new government was formed starting on January 20th, there would be an abrupt change, if the Republicans could hold firm. That is, all the moochers, bureaucrats and unions in the US would start to really feel the pinch, and would have no one to complain to and demand from but the Democrats!

And *that* is when the bullet hits the bone. Because it is going to be two very long years before the next elections, and if the Republicans can hold out for a month or two, the Democrats are going to get both barrels. And their pain will be intense and deep, as all the promises they have made come up short.

How do I know this? Because in the last years of the Herbert Hoover administration, this is exactly what the Democrats did to the Republicans.

Hoover was desperate to fix the economy, and the Democrats in congress blocked him every step of the way. And though the Democrats were blamed at first, all the people getting pounded by the Great Depression eventually turned their wrath on Hoover and the Republicans.

And that wrath was wide and deep. It just nuked the Republicans at the polls, and gave the Democrats a free reign under “Ol’ Frank” Roosevelt.

So this is the payoff to the Republicans right now, if they can just keep their continence for a few months and refuse to bend to the Democrats.

If they cave, like spineless weaklings, it will deeply hurt our country, and they will be politically neutered for years. But if they fight, and withstand the attacks for a short time, they will win big time.

So, how brave are Republicans, really?

Blame? Hell, I will wear it as a badge of honor if my side refuses to raise the debt ceiling and finally makes us pay the bill that’s been piling up for the last 25 years.

A few days ago I started reading a story from the AP about the fiscal cliff. It started out calling the Republican’s refusal to raise the debt ceiling as the instigator of the crisis. I stopped reading the story.

Why, of course they would. Look what they just reelected. The left has reaped the benefits of government education and the left-wing MSM propaganda machine.

I really don’t care if they blame ME, personally for it.

They need to experience the consequences of their choices, or they’ll never learn.

The irony is.. the GOP’s success in reigning Obama in after 2010 may have contributed to the tepidly improving economy, which was just enough to pull Obama over the finish line.

The GOP never got any credit for forcing welfare reform and balanced budgets on Clinton.

I believe that what you suggest actually did happen in Ohio. We kicked out the Oblamer butt-boy Strickland in 2010 and John Kasich basically solved the state budget crisis and implemented policies at the state level that have brought about a marginal but noticeable improvement in the state's economy. But Kasich doesn't get credit for that, Obama does. The media would never credit anything positive to a ‘Pub, only a ‘Rat. I was afraid something like this would happen, and it did.
