A man was tasered by police after he picked up his garden hose and attempted to stop a fire spreading that was threatening to engulf his home.
Dan Jensen, 42, awoke from a nap last Thursday when he hear his wife, Angela, also 42, scream that the house next door at 3420 Beechwood Terrace N in Tampa Bay was ablaze.
When the father of two went outside, the fire had already engulfed his neighbors home and a fence in between the two houses and the flames were starting to lick the corners of the Jensens' home.

They don't let that one pass, generally speaking...
Stupid white hetero male.
By 2016, he’ll get multiple 9mm punctures instead.
He is lucky that they did not shoot him. Officer Friendly has gone the way of the DoDo bird.
You will obey my authoooority. I guess the guy should have the e cops for trespassing because they certainly where not there to serve and protect.
Many years ago in Minneapolis, my mom witnessed a cop beating an old homeless wino. She begged him to stop and he told her to shut the hell up or she would get the same. She never felt the same about the police after that, even though she realized not all cops were like that. Still, such an episode errodes trust.
I wonder what she would think of her great grandson who is a deputy? I think she would be proud anyway.
Stupid free people. They have to be reminded at every opportunity to obey.
Taking the job of a union firefighter is a serious offense.
Police were upset because the homeowner didn’t have a dog they could shoot.
“Sir, in the future, please have a dog available for our officers to dispatch with extreme prejudice.”
Maybe even 2013.
I’m old enough to remember a time when I actually respected cops.
Those days are LONG gone.
And we had to get this news from a Foreign Newspaper?
Land of the Free, Home of the Brave?
Let me guess. The cops are probably union thugs.
Sadly to often true.
I guess he was not licensed to fight fires.
Another case of Cops behaving badly. He’s lucky they didn;t shoot him.
The local WTSP which is Gannet had a article too but the link only in FR stopped me from posting it. Link
I’m beginning to wonder what will make these thugs stop their abuse of power. People can’t seem to get around the police union protection power structure to seek justice and change.
The lack of justice and the rule of law, abandons people to the remedy of revenge.
Welcome to Mexico!
The guy is actually very lucky. Even the worst shyster in town should be able to get him a few hundred thousand bucks for his “humiliation”, “pain” and “suffering”.
Am with you!
Not that I have any hate for them, its just plain to see they are smart as a box of rocks and rarely actually HELP.
Yeah but it has to be a big dog, the small ones are too hard to hit.
Not sure but I think they all are.
They are hoping to do that next time.
It is coming, we have lots of them here now.
I would be thinking more like 7 or 8 figures.
"I don't hate cops, I just feel better when they're not around."
If the officers were not equipped with a Taser, what would have been their course of action, beat the man with night sticks (the Billy Ray Valentine option)? shoot him (assuming his dog was unavailable)? Send in a police dog? Let the man fight the fire until the fire dept arrived (no, that one is waaaaaaay over the top).
I wonder if there is a properly conducted study about the propensity of a LEO to over-react when a non-lethal-force tool (e.g. Taser) is available.
Was he using water from a rain barrel? That’s a crime in some states..
The cops do not have to explain to us, lets be series.
I’ve lost almost all respect for the institutions I grew up believing good.
More than once, I’ve seen people become completely irrational in their efforts to fight a fire. The police may have done him a great favor so that he will be alive to bitch about being saved from his own idiocy.
I like what one of the comments at the site said. Sue the cops and the city, that’s what insurance is for! lol
Yep a capital crime in some states.
Yes, they have earned that loss of respect.
You are clueless.
Just doing what the man says, right.
The People’s Police State of NJ has the highest cop density in the nation. It’s so bad in some areas you must follow every traffic law perfectly or you will quickly get a $500 ticket. Ca-ching! But family members and off-duty cops are immune from this armed highway robbery. One got behind me yesterday in a $100k luxury SUV featuring law enforcement plates and got total road rage at me because I was going only 28 mph in a 25 mph zone and he was stuck behind me on cruise control for 5 miles. His attitude was “Move over taxpaying chump, the jackboot rules don’t apply to me!” He had to calm himself down because acting out on his road rage might cost him his cushy government gig and pension. Half the reason I’m leaving NJ is it’s filled with asshole jackboot cops and other democrat loving government hirelings.
Why the scare quotes?
” Yeah but it has to be a big dog, the small ones are too hard to hit.”
Preferably, staked out in the front yard on a very short chain...
Some folks have better memory for movie scripts. Bout the only thing I can remeber about Rourke was the scene where he had the blonde twit Kim bouncing up against the wall in a hallway.
But he was right about the cops! They have turned into an inbred getto PitBull, you are not really sure what they’ll do.
” I’d love to hear the explanation for how he put the cops’ lives in danger.”
If the homeowner had gotten into trouble, the officer’s lives would’ve been put in jeopardy when they had to rescue him.
Oh , wait a minute, nevermind...(I didn’t realize how silly that sounded).
Yep no longer a Garden State.
Hey if they do it that way it should only take one mag to kill the dog.
Peter,...Now that is funny.
