Inhofe: ‘Does anyone really believe that Obama was unaware of this investigation until recently?’

Oklahoma Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe expressed doubt Tuesday evening that President Barack Obama did not know about the investigation into now former CIA Director David Petraeus.

“With the close relationship that the president has with Attorney General Holder and the regular FBI briefings he receives, does anyone really believe that Obama was unaware of this investigation until recently?” Inhofe, a senior member of Senate Armed Services Committee and a member of Senate Foreign Relations Committee, asked in a statement.

On Tuesday, Press Secretary Jay Carney said that the president learned of the “situation regarding General Petraeus on Thursday” and was “surprised.”

“And it is simply a fact that the White House was not aware of the situation regarding General Petraeus until Wednesday, and the situation regarding General Allen until Friday,” Carney told reporters.

Fox News reported Monday that Attorney General Eric Holder was informed of FBI probe in late summer.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton suggested to Fox News that the larger question is when the White House actually learned of Petraeus’ involvement in the investigation.

“The idea that the White House didn’t learn of this potential problem until Election Day, I just find incomprehensible. Did the attorney general sit on this information for two months?” Bolton asked, adding, according to Fox News, it raises the question “of whether the information was suppressed.”

Inhofe added that while he is disappointed in Petreaus’ personal choices, it does not take away from his record of accomplishment. He added that he is once again troubled by the administration’s lack of transparency.

“What is troubling about the investigation that resulted in this information coming to light is that the Obama administration once again exercised a major lack of transparency,” he said. “Instead of following the laws that requires the reporting of this type of information to appropriate congressional leadership, it was instead leaked first to the press.”

“This is an alarming trend with the Obama Administration, as they also failed to notify Congress of critical information regarding the Benghazi attack that killed Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans and failed to notify Congress of the U.S. drone that Iranian forces fired at recently,” Inhofe added.

The correct answer is NO. Holder has covered so often for Obama that his lies are now threadbare and totally unbelievable.

The term “White House” is being referred to as; “The White House is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States” by Carney.

There is no way a building can be “aware” of anything.

The Democrat spin yesterday on NPR was that intelligence security was never at risk. I was even astonished that someone could think that, especially after Betrayus’s girlfriend Paula spoke openly about a CIA prison in Benghazi.

Geez...

Either Obama has known all along and was saving this till after the election to keep from giving the GOP any more ammo against him... especially considering all that Petraeus likely knows.

But this begs even further investigation - if Obama REALLY didn’t know - months into an investigation of his top CIA guy - something is fishy. Any president that far out of the loop doesn’t need to be President (or have his finger on “The Button”).

But I firmly believe, whether we actually get this from official investigations or not, that Petraeus was going to drop the bombshell on Obama, The administration had all this dirt on Petraeus - and maybe a lot more they are holding back to keep him in line. They gave him the option - they would nuke his career, his military retirement and honors, and so much more, or he can resign in relatively minor disgrace... walking away and not testifying before CONgress.

I still wouldn’t be surprised at all if he is found with an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the back of the head”...

Well, if Petraeus was being blackmailed or pressured to withhold what he knew about Benghazi because of this, it would be logical, within the warped mindset of those driving this cover-up, to either make believe that Obama didn't know, or actually not tell Obama and conduct the specifics of the blackmail without his knowledge.

Of course, this in turn beggars the question - exactly what kind of Adminstration creates a chain of communication (or lack thereof) where his Attorney General does not tell him that the CIA Director is now in a severely compromised position? Basically that is Carney's attempted defense - that the Obama Admin is so grossly incompetent that such a situation happened.

Which goes to show just how damning the underlying truth here could be, given they would even attempt such a gambit in the first place.

The Democrat spin yesterday on NPR was that intelligence security was never at risk.

So Petraeus' conduct was of a sufficient national security risk that he had to resign ... but it did not represent a risk to intelligence security.

Well, it is Whopper Wednesday.

I think everyone has to realize something. The cover-up worked. It achieved its goal of keeping the truth about Benghazi murky enough, for long enough, for it not to significantly harm Obama's chance for re-election, subsequent consequences be damned.

I believe that it could come out that Obama deliberately blocked security improvements, deliberately ordered no rescue attempt, lied continually about the aftermath leading up to the election (and past), and it would basically mean nothing as far as Obama is concerned. There would be no group of Dem Congressional leaders going up to the White House telling Obama it is time to resign. The GOP Congress can impeach Obama but we saw with Clinton that the Dems in the Senate would hold together sufficiently to block a successful removal vote. Obama and Holder realize that, hence the decision to launch the cover-up.

This was one of the most sick, darkly cynical decisions in American political history. And I believe it will work, to the severe further detriment of America's self-respect and the view of America overseas by both our allies and enemies. And the worst part is, Obama and many Dems probably think that is a good thing.

The Democrat spin yesterday on NPR was that intelligence security was never at risk.

1)The emails reportedly contained confidential information about CIA Directors travel

2)Broadwell’s computer was seized on October 21st and had classified docs on it.

For Team Kenya to suggest this was just a criminal matter and not related to national security is total buffoonery. This will make King Obama and his entire admin look like a fools.

Barry can’t tap dance his way out of this one. My guess is Holder will end up leaving over this since he probably doesn’t want the job now anyway.

This is the kenyans bridge too far.

Exactly. Barry is in a corner on this one. No way out.

Door 1 - Barry and now his entire admin lying to the American people and did know.

Door 2 - Barry is so far out of the loop his own admin doesn’t tell him his CIA Director is being investigated by the FBI.

Bengazhi must be BAD to risk this.

For Obama it wasn’t a potential problem it played into his plan for an excuse to make more changes in the system.
