President Barack Obama revealed at his press conference this afternoon that he is responsible for sending U.N. ambassador Susan Rice to speak to the American people a few days after the September 11 Benghazi terror attack.
"As I said before, she made an appearance at the request of the White House in which she gave her best understanding of the intelligence that had been provided to her," Obama said at the press conference, defending the statements the ambassador to the U.N. made regarding the Benghazi attack.
Rice has been widely criticized for giving misleading statements about Benghazi. She maintained that the killing of four Americans stemmed for a spontaneous protest that got violent.

Knowing the administration's stance on this goes a long way to making sense of putting the UN ambassador out as point-person on the whole Bengazi video thing. In its way, this is an assault on the First Amendment in the same way that Fast & Furious is an assault on the Second.
If Obama wasn’t a narcissist, he would simply say that they were wrong, and that the Benghazi attack was not the result of a video trailer.
I heard today that Petraeus tried to have it both ways at that hearing.
I.e., according to William Kristol, one of Kristol's sources told him that Petraeus asked the House Committee something like this,
"Do you want to hear what really happened, or do you want to hear about the video?"
I heard this news attributed to Kristol this morning on the Fox & Friends show.
I would think this should be blockbuster news ... but haven't seen or heard anything since.
Obama’s phony “protective” attitude about Susan Rice is not convincing. If he cared about Ms. Rice’s reputation and her getting criticized, then why didn’t HE come forward weeks ago and tell us that he was the one who sent her out to the wolves.
And, further, why didn’t HE make the original statement to the press in the first place instead of sending out someone else? - especially when a U.S. Ambassador had just been murdered. He was just TOO BUSY out in Las Vegas to bother with telling what really happened - which he STILL hasn’t done.
Obama ordered it. Well I guess that makes it ok then.
Like nobody knew that Susan Rice was speaking on behalf of the White House.
If she had any integrity, she would have resigned when he asked her to lie for him.

0bama was notified immediately and automatically when the Benghazi consulate triggered the "Imminent Danger Notification System" alert. He did nothing.

Denial of requests for security were a dereliction of duty. The lies and misdirection about the "video" after the attack were fraud and malfeasance under the color of authority. The inaction during the attack was something more than that.
The failure to act during the attack is the direct equivalent of desertion IMO.
ONE man had the authority to act that night.
ONE man deserted his post!

“...intelligence provided to her” is sort of an interesting phrase. From it you can conclude that she was honestly reporting what she was told. Assuming for the moment that true, the question now is who fed her the “intelligence” and did they know it was false when the fed it to her.
The second question is why, having been made a dupe by the Administration, she hasn’t resigned.
Sounds to me like he is Sending Petraeus under the bus,he said he sent Rice out to the shows to do the best she could with the intelligence she had,so what has Changed? Petraeus is the idiot who told us it was a Video.Sounds like old Petraeus is not as smart as we thought he was,what a Dope the Kenyan really played him
1) Obama lied to serve his domestic political needs, and isn’t fit to be Secretary of State himself.
2) When Rice lied on command, as Obama claims, she forfeited all credibility. Colin Powell presented a pack of BS about mobile WMD labs and centrifuge tubes in Iraq, because his boss wanted him to. Bush’s fault, Powell’s destroyed credibility. That’s how the game works.
John Kerry as Sec of Defense is interesting. That would get him out of the Senate, and he would last about 3 months. His executive experience is .....precisely what?
No, he didn’t say that she was acting on their best intelligence, he said:
“she gave her best understanding of the intelligence that had been provided to her”
So, if you read between the lines, that is lawyer-speak for “we didn’t give her the best intelligence that WE had”.
