President Obama, irritated by Republican pledges to prevent Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice from receiving a promotion, said that Rice’s critics “have a problem with me.”
“When they go after the UN ambassador apparently because they think she’s an easy target, then they’ve got a problem with me,” Obama told reporters today. “And should I choose — if I think that she would be the best person to serve America in the capacity of the State Department [head] then I will nominate her, but that’s not a determination I’ve made yet.”
Obama was responding to a press conference held by three GOP senators this morning. “We will do whatever’s necessary to block the nomination that’s within our power as far as Susan Rice is concerned,” Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told reporters today during a press conference on Capitol Hill. McCain faulted Rice for saying that the Benghazi terrorist attack grew out of a spontaneous protest against an anti-Islam Youtube video.

Interesting that Sandy Berger should be mentioned...he was obviously trying to remove the record of this failure when he stole those documents from the National Archives - for which he was never adequately prosecuted because Bush believed in extending a gentlemanly, professional courtesy and simply never held any Dems responsible for their crimes.
I wonder if something similar is happening here? Perhaps the documents that Broadwell had on her computer (which she says she did not get from Petraeus, but from other sources open to her) are in some way related to the backstory of Benghazi, and this is now being sanitized.

Obama may be able to duck and from all the Benghazi hearings
in the House, but he can’t keep her from confirmation hearings.
She will have to show up under oath, unless he makes her a recess appointment

McCain should ask Darrel ISSA to draw up articles of impeachment for Susan Rice. She was caught outright lying to the People concerning matters of national Security, and matters of Life and Death of US Citizens.

You are right, but IMHO McCain doesn’t even have to wait for her nomination. He should be asking Issa to draw up articles of Impeachment in the House , right now. Rice lied to the people repeatedly and extensively on matters of national security and on matters of the life and death of the Benghazi 4.

I have written the St. Louis office of the FBI to see if these crimes qualify as a hate crime, and would encourage everone to contact their Congressional representatives to get some attention directed to this.
No, simple majority for confirmation of Rice; it would take six Democrat defectors to stop her. She can’t be stopped unless something comes out that causes Obama to desert her.
I imagine that in 2013 a lot of us are going to wish Pelosi was the Speaker once more, as Boehner is so non-Republican.
