Obama to McCain: You can’t stop Susan Rice from being Secretary of State
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/14/2012 | Joel Gehrke

President Obama, irritated by Republican pledges to prevent Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice from receiving a promotion, said that Rice’s critics “have a problem with me.”

“When they go after the UN ambassador apparently because they think she’s an easy target, then they’ve got a problem with me,” Obama told reporters today. “And should I choose — if I think that she would be the best person to serve America in the capacity of the State Department [head] then I will nominate her, but that’s not a determination I’ve made yet.”

Obama was responding to a press conference held by three GOP senators this morning. “We will do whatever’s necessary to block the nomination that’s within our power as far as Susan Rice is concerned,” Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told reporters today during a press conference on Capitol Hill. McCain faulted Rice for saying that the Benghazi terrorist attack grew out of a spontaneous protest against an anti-Islam Youtube video.

This is beyond ridiculous. Nothing will happen. There are no Republicans. Only Republicans In Name Only.

I have stopped wasting my energy on thinking that at least ONE on the republican ‘figures’ would actually do something.

When years pass, people will think and ask - Why did no one step up and stop this mess?

-- This man CANNOT have it both ways.. Sometimes a terrorist attack, sometimes a protest. --

Carney has already made that assertion. ANYTIME a US facility is attacked, it is an act of terrorism.

Obama will successfully dodge the underlying issues.

And if there was gunrunning to Al Queda going on, that'll be kept out of view as a state secret.

I think those rules were in place before Clinton, going back to the Church Committee years.

Rice did her best to protect bin Laden though. Apparently, while in the Clinton administration, Sudan wanted to turn bin Laden over, but Rice and Sandy Berger objected.

Nice twist that.

Øbama sounds like some wannabe big brother trying to protect his little sister (when Rice could probably whip him)

-- remember, Obama determines when the senate is in recess... --

Only if the House and Senate can't agree on a time for adjournment.

he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper

Is there NO ONE else that can be Sec of State. How about a white man for a change? All those Muslim countries don’t like women, why do we keep sending women to deal with them?

The faux outrage was for the benefit of the “war on women” meme.

2/3 senate approval required for an appointee. It’ll take the demholes ten, or maybe as long as 15 minutes to find a dozen republican fools anxious to reach across the aisle and approve any loser Obama appoints.

Nope. It's simple majority vote. They can be filibustered, requiring 60 votes, under current rules. That's why GOP judges and others had so much trouble under W.

The Republicans are just yanking our chains. They are all in it together. They are not going to do anything that rocks the boat too much.

We do that to insult them ~ and they have no choice in the matter. When it comes to the Moslem countries most of their “leaders” understand force and little else, so making them grovel probably is well advised.

didn’t Susan Rice create the “wall” that prevented the CIA from telling the FBI about the 9-11 terrorists??

You're thinking of the traitorous Bill Maher sexist slur named Jamie Gorelick. Who also helped to drive fannie-mae into the ground.

“Is this what they promised Rice when she was sent out to lie for the regime? The SoS slot?”

Very good call.

And I’m very tired of Obama considering himself in the first person as opposed to Bush’ view of himself as an office holder.

Yep.... The senate will ratify the treaties an confirm the appointments.

All else is executive order.

House side of congress is a paperweight now.

My opinion .

I know in Michigan we can do Recall elections of federal elected officials. Could Michiganders recall Stabenow and Levin and strive to replace them with Conservaive Republicans.

also Odumbo forgets if persists in his stupidity that he can lord it over US, in kind the taxpayers can just forget to pay taxes. How could the IRS round up every taxpayer whom refuses to pay tax? Yes I know Odumbo would just print more money.

Lastly in Odumbo’s power grab he will overreach and cause to alienate himself from the Republicans and nothing will be achieved unless it is EXECUTIVE ORDERS. The American can refuse the EO and state no way this is not what you were elected to do. He does not have the entire country backing him. If he continues to piss off the people he will only screw the democrats that much more. Just watch Odumbo will fall flat on his face.
