The former vice-president and climate champion, Al Gore, has called on Barack Obama to seize the moment and use his re-election victory to push through bold action on climate change.
The president has faced rising public pressure in the wake of superstorm Sandy to deliver on his promise to act on global warming.
But none of those calling on Obama to act carries the moral authority of Gore, who has devoted his post-political career to building a climate movement.
Now, Gore said, it is the president's turn. He urged Obama to immediately begin pushing for a carbon tax in negotiations over the "fiscal cliff" budget crisis.

Well Al, one good reason to not do this is because he did not campaign that he would do this. Do you know what they call governing the opposite of how you campaigned ? Stealing votes.
Howdy CC, how have things been going? There have been Low Earth Orbiting Satellites up for about 30 years. I need to look up the first launch date. They orbit on a N-S orbit with only a few hour orbital period so they cover the surface of the planet as the earth spins below. They can measure surface temperatures as well as atmospheric temperatures at various altitudes via infrared sensors. This is the data that the climate scientists are refusing to release for FOIA requests. But, the data is available elsewhere and debunks their computer models.
I hope they all get what they voted for.
