President Obama's election victory ensured his Affordable Care Act would remain the centerpiece of his first term in power - but that has left some business owners baulking at the extra cost Obamcare will bring.
Florida based restaurant boss John Metz, who runs approximately 40 Denny's and owns the Hurricane Grill & Wings franchise has decided to offset that by adding a five percent surcharge to customers' bills and will reduce his employees' hours.
With Obamacare due to be fully implemented in January 2014, Metz has justified his move by claiming it is 'the only alternative. I've got to pass on the cost to the customer.'
The fast-food business owner is set to hold meetings at his restaurants in December where he will tell employees, 'that because of Obamacare, we are going to be cutting front-of-the-house employees to under 30 hours, effective immediately.'

Please delete post. Crosshairs beat me to it!........
All businesses should do the same. Instead of raising prices and taking the it in the eyes of consumers, , all businesses should add a surcharge to their final bill and attribute it to Obamacare. They should do the same for all government burdens. Let the sheep know what is driving the high costs. When Obama gets his tax increases on small businesses, they should tack that to the bill as well. Time to fight fire with fire and open the sheeple’s eyes to the fact that nothing is free and that ultimately they pay the cost of these taxes and regulations through higher prices.
Can you imagine if grocery stores did that?.............
Sounds like a plan.
I believe the “yes, we built that” crowd should invoice every customer the true price of the good/service and surcharge with regulatory fees - much like when you get a car rental receipt with “airport concession fee” “franchise tax re-coupment fee” etc. It would be a useful effort for the US Chamber of Commerce to support. The O voters have no idea what they’re supporting, let’s teach them....
bump
most of them either don’t or can’t read the receipts for the merchandise, nor can they add/subtract/do basic math skills.
Our country is so dumb-downed that we’re drooling...
There should be a line item on the deductions from paycheck, identifying Obamacare! Every business should also place and tax contibuted to the Obamacare additinal taxes on their receipt for purchases...
Carlo...this is a stupendous idea! It is time the 47% learn about the pain the rest of us having to pay for 'government services' like ObamaCare. Businesses...DON'T HIDE THE COSTS of ObamaCare...line-item that sucker (10% surcharge), and let the squealing begin!
I don’t think announcing it is a good idea..just do it and let employees guess at why they are now limited to 28 hours. You just set your business up for retaliation. All the RAT owners will not announce their plans..but they will still do the same..they must.
Grocery stores have all dramatically increased prices on food over the last year..trying to recover costs and anticipating higher operating costs..you haven’t seen any announcements of price increases.
Just do it.
Guess I’ll have to pass up their ‘Moon over Obami’ breakfast.
Great idea!
Exactly...in their face.
I disagree. There may be an element of marketing here. If 40 Denny's restaurants can duplicate the Chik-fil-A performance, that would be a very good thing for this businessman. Personally, I would eat at his restaurant the day this went into effect, just as I regularly grab Chik-fil-A, if I lived close enough.
They won't learn, they'll take it out on the businesses, and it will drive them to become even more socialist than they already are. A leopard doesn't change its' spots.

They should post a notice at the entrance and at at each check out counter.
Also if payment is by EBT surcharge on that, just like we are charged for using a credit card.
Payback time for the takers....

Excellent. If O wants to show how 97% of small businesses aren’t affected
By taxes then he should be fine with this “ transparency”
