TAMPA --
Last month, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received an anonymous call about three shots fired and a dog possibly buried in the backyard of a Clair-Mel City vacant home.
When investigators arrived at the home, 3221 Deerfield Dr., Tampa, they found a 2-year-old female pit bull mix buried up to its nose. A Hillsborough County Animal Services animal control officer used her hands to dig the dog out.
The dog had been shot twice and was bleeding profusely, said Pam Perry, an Animal Services investigations manager.
"For her to even be alive when the officer got there is a miracle," Perry said.

This is a case where I would approve of “cruel and unusual punishment”.
some son of a b8tch owner was mad at the dog for pooping in the house after being left there for 10 hours. May he roast in hell
Somebody needs one hell of an ass whupin................
There are quite a few freepers who would be prime suspects.
A Pit bull just killed one our our kitties. We have a leash law in this town and these people don’t seem to care.
Yes, we did call the police but not much can be done. The dog disappeared from our property before the police came.
I’m petite and the bit is rather large dog. I can understand why someone would kill the dog.
I don’t think this is a case of the dog attacking someone and them shooting in self-defense; it seems more like a case of sustained animal abuse and a botched execution. Before they shot and buried the dog, he was malnourished and had worms.
Check for a rogue cop. You know how they feel about killing people’s dogs for absolutely no reason. It could be we have a serial dog killer on the force. (Who’d have thought it?)
I was going to say - if a cop did this, they’d have no problem.
The dog “could have been a threat” was the last excuse I heard for a dog shooting.

Check the Tampa Police and Hillsborough County sheriffs,
Seems the cops are doing all the puppy shooting lately
What was a kitten doing out, and I am not justifying the dog running around either.
There are few places with leash laws for cats, despite the hypocrisy of that and some people think it’s perfectly fine to let their cats run amok and unfettered.
I wouldn’t let my puppy run loose where another animal could possibly harm it but then again, I’m a responsible pet owner.
At the very least.
I don’t like pits but that is just plain sick. Hope they find the idiot that did it...
Ping for great irony on thread.
Shooter was all out of anti-freeze?
(That’ll get any dog-killer’s goat.)
Hamburger’s getting too expensive.
Bullets are cheaper.
;-\
I was out with the cats on our own property. They are trained to come in when I come in. The dog just came out of no where and its’ always the same Pit that the owners let loose, regardless of the leash law. That pit mauled the kitty it was 8 weeks old.
I am sorry about your kitten.
But what does that have to do with the heinous acts by a human in this story? You couldn’t possibly be justifying burying a dog alive? Dogs kill cats as part of their nature. They are animals. This story is about a human acting like an animal.
As I said, I am not justifying the Pitt being loose, but an 8 week old kitten is a little young to be out unless you live on a farm or rural area.
