This is pretty frustrating and disappointing. Romney’s strength was his executive ability and that includes hiring competent people and delegating authority. I’m not trying to say he is personally responsible, but we know where the buck stops. Someone failed, that’s for sure, and these are rookie mistakes, i.e. any idiot could see the value of doing a dry-run to get the bugs out before E-day.
Maybe we’d be far better off with a bunch of Soccer Moms from Wasilla running things than these inept political operatives who obviously don’t even have common sense.
This is tactics. The best tactics in the world can’t overcome bad strategy. You have to be strong at all levels, and strategically, the Republicans aren’t.
“Understand yourself and understand your opponent, and in one hundred battles, you will not be defeated.”
We just lost a battle. We must not understand ourselves or our opponents or both.
I bet those 7 million people who didn’t vote for Bathhouse Barry again but couldn’t bear to pull the lever for a Republican (oh the horror) are feeling wonderful about their decision and can ponder it in the unemployment line.
“Most people hate to admit they were wrong. Thus, its hard to unseat incumbents. You have to convince a lot of people to admit (at least to themslves) that they made a mistake.
I think a lot of this our get out the vote campaign wasnt good analysis is off base.
Karl Rove does the math in his recent column: Obama got 91% of this 2008 totals, Romney got 98% of McCains. Who had the superior GOTV campaign?
Romney improved McCains performance in almost every demographic, improved his % of the popular vote, and a few more EC votes.
Its just that Obamas 2008 victory was so large that he had millions of votes to lose and still end up in the winners circle at the end of the contest.”
This is exactly right. It is simple numbers and demographics. Romney ran a good race and was far superior to McCain. Obama lost millions of white voters, but held on and even increased his support among Latinos, Blacks, Single Women, and Youth.
ORCA had nothing to do with the loss. Everyone who wanted to unseat Obama went out and voted to unseat Obama. There weren’t hundreds of thousands of Republican voters in each swing state just waiting on a ride from a GOP volunteer. It’s nonsense.
We have majority rule now by people happy with handouts, racial identity politics, and being sugar daddied by Big Gov.
Incredible failure. Gives some insight into Romney’s investment business tactics that did not translate to running for office.
“I bet those 7 million people who didnt vote for Bathhouse Barry again but couldnt bear to pull the lever for a Republican (oh the horror) are feeling wonderful about their decision and can ponder it in the unemployment line.”
There were an estimated 6-10 million whites who walked away from Obama this time but very few of them voted for Romney. Where did they go? Apparently they just tuned out and let the morons run the country.
I still maintain that Obama and Christie giving each other the tongue in NJ cost Romney the election.
Bump......
Further, it seems that in the months leading up to November 6, the legal-team effort was walled off from much of the poll-watching effort. These efforts should be integrated. In my past work on roving legal teams, I was given ahead of time the names and mobile numbers of the poll watchers in each of the six precincts I was covering. A volunteer should not just be sent out by himself to a polling place with no sense of support and no idea whom he could turn to for help. Understandably, without any support line, many poll watchers went home when their efforts to address the Orca meltdown were unsuccessful. There were many important precincts in swing states that ended up without a Romney poll watcher because of this.

Excerpt from Mitt Romney's reference:
These elections are NOT certified yet. The only way to get this investigated, much less recounted or overturned, is through the Secretary of State of each of the five key states: Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. EVEN IF YOU ARE IN ANOTHER STATE you can help. But it wont do any good to dilute our effort to challenge California or Michigan or other states. Until a major group gets involved to do more, here is the plan: Contact the Secretary of State of the state in question. See contact information below...

Next time, try having a product that is more appealing to the customers.
“Romneys strength was his executive ability and that includes hiring competent people and delegating authority...”
Looks like he may have been a little over-rated, eh?
Well golly gee wilikers. Tweets. Wow.
He doesn’t care. If he cared he’d file suit right now that Bathhouse Barry is not a natural born citizen and has produced fraudulent documents.
How about a Quo warranto lawsuit?
Nah. He doesn’t care.
This is a guy that could afford the finest legal services and he has the standing.
Romney was so unpalatable that he couldn’t even beat Carter 2, he was the disaster that conservatives had said he would be since he was telling us that William Weld was his political soul master and that he did not support Reagan.
Who thought that a Massachusetts governor booted out of office with 34% approval and rejected for reelection, was the goof ball to make the GOP presidential candidate.
Democrats eat and breathe politics. For Republicans, it's something they think about on the first Tuesday of November. I think the cause can be found there.
And, yes. It is embarrassing.
A legitimate assessment, to be sure.
But, if the RNC has a role, isn't the GOTV process it? Why must every Republican candidate invent their own? Isn't it the RNC's job to maintain voter rolls, run registration drives, monitor the vote, develop GOTV technology, etc.?
If that isn't the RNC's job, then I question their existence.
“Our side runs companies and makes things work in the real world. Their side; well they just take things from other people.”

Sure, that’s part of the Obama coalition — but not all of it, and not the part who designed and ran the GOTV effort. The brain trust is from the 80% of six-figure tech guys in Silicon Valley and 70% of Asians and essentially all the college-educated gays and abortion-single-issue voters, etc.
I don’t know. He did asked us to read the article that tells us what to do. That’s something.
What would it hurt for us all to do what the article says.
At least we tried.
I look it it this way. A number of voters walked away from Obama. Some went for Romney. Some did not vote.
Now, if Romney picked up a portion of those who walked away from Romney, then why did he not exceed McCains performance? Because republicans walked away from Romney. The questions are Who and How many?
Did Obama lose women’s support? If yes, and if Romney did not pick up women’s support, then there lies a huge problem. Was it the trifecta of 2 idiot candidates plus Limbaugh and his 2 day rant? I am willing to put money on that. I think women stayed with Obama because they did not trust that with fiscal positives they saw in Romney would not be out weighed by what they consider an erosion of reproductive rights demanded by social conservatives.
African Americans who left Obama would have (wrongly) never voted against him. Those were never in Romney’s reach. I believe that is the bulk of Obama’s loss of support.
Evangelicals? There lies a loss of support (wrongly) based upon Romneys faith. Those most likely stayed home, and did not swing to Obama. The number of these voters is a question I would like to know.
But, most importantly, Romney believed his own press that the country was swinging toward him. Only a small portion of votes may have been swung back to Obama due to Christie doing what any governor should have done, by putting his state above party politics.
Has anyone seen the percentage breakdown between early / absentee ballots verses the number of ballots cast on Election Day? That could lead to some insight as to the affect of Christie’s actions.
