Whittle is absolutely correct to note that politics cannot trump culture. If the culture is corrupt, then forget about "good government." We get the government we "deserve."

Oh so very true, dearest sister in Christ, that is the sad consequence of a democracy over a mostly corrupt public.

Nevertheless, I'm continuing in intense prayer for a Spiritual revival throughout this country. Nothing less will do.

I'm continuing in intense prayer for a Spiritual revival throughout this country. Nothing less will do.

I join you in prayer, dearest sister in Christ, for a Spiritual renewal/revival, because I so agree with you: "Nothing less will do" to rescue our nation from the bleak plight it faces.

Our nation is in the grip of nothing less than a profound existential crisis, a crisis created by a profound rejection of Truth. The Left Progressives currently running the show out of Washington hold Truth in contempt, while finding lies perfectly acceptable means of advancing their goals. They have constructed a massive Second Reality, projecting it as a mask that conceals First Reality at every turn.

Which is ridiculous — imperfect human beings are simply not capable of building "perfect systems."

Unfortunately, there is no way for a human being to "resign" from First Reality — it utterly grips him. Second Realities usually promise social perfection in the future (a future which never comes, if history is any guide) — just let the bright minds of the self-appointed "experts" work out the details. Then there will be no more suffering, no more pain; everyone will be "taken care of" and left free to pursue his or her own interests and pleasures without restraint — on somebody else's dime.

This is an adolescent dream. No rational, mature person could countenance it at all.

To me, this "adolescent dream" is truly a nightmare. I pray the American people will awake from it ASAP.

Much suffering lies ahead. If we were willing to learn from our own history, as persons, as a nation, and from world history as well, we wouldn't have to repeat the same old errors of the past. But since we don't, we are fated to repeat the same old mistakes, and undergo the same suffering that past errors generated among human beings in the past.

Right now, American looks more like the Weimar Republic than it does the beloved country of my birth.

We all know what happened after Weimar collapsed. It collapsed for both cultural and monetary reasons.

May God spare us this fate! May He continue to bless America, and to find resonance in American hearts and souls!

We are, after all, a people under God, in Whom we trust. If we lose this understanding, then the America we know and love will cease to exist.

It's that simple.

Thank you ever so much for writing, my dearest sister in Christ!

Betty, I had a conversation with a friend a few weeks ago about what is happening in many of our local churches. It's not a new transformation; it has been occurring incrementally over several years. My friend and I were in complete agreement regarding our observation.

My husband and I have been looking for a new church home for about six years now. We consider this decision to be a major one, so we are taking our time in order to find a church where we will feel comfortable spending the rest of our lives worshipping.

Through that process, we have visited dozens of churches on different Sundays, some of them multiple times. In doing that, we have witnessed a gradual decline (by our own definition) in the spiritual content of many of the church services. There are fewer references to Christ in the services, fewer songs/hymns with genuine, historical significance, more secular-based discussion, more superficiality, and more me-oriented behavior.

Rightly or wrongly, I believe that these observations are an indication that even Christians are allowing their spirituality (at least that part of it that is represented by their church service content) to be diluted, and, in that way, incrementally pushing God's Word out of their lives.

The Lord told us in Matthew 18:20, For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. I am afraid that, in many American churches these days, He is not entirely among them -- not because He has chosen not to be, but because the congregation's emphasis is moving toward something more superficial and away from the study and practice of His Word.

As is the case with so much of modern American life, superficiality and self-absorbed pastimes and practices have begun to take root in many church services, and therefore in many Christians' definitions of spirituality. I am afraid that therein lies much of the need for genuine revival.

Best to you and yours, betty --

~ joanie

Indeed, dear sister in Christ! I can so relate to your search for a new church home. I'm in the same boat, and am similarly disappointed in my search.

I'm an unchurched RC. So I gravitated toward RC churches. And got the Social Gospel thrown at me, in every parish I attended. Since I tend to be orthodox in theological views, I was appalled.

So I checked out the Reformed churches in my area (eastern Massachusetts) — Congregational, Presbyterian, Lutheran — and got the same thing: I.e., the Social Gospel.

I simply consider the Social Gospel, a/k/a/, Liberation Theology, as apostasy. When the Lord's Sermon on the Mount speaks to "the poor," it was not viewing the "poor" person in economic terms. It was speaking to individual souls, who are "poor in spirit" before their God.

So I remain unchurched.

I recall a statement, attributed to Pope Paul VI, back in the late 1970s. He said (paraphrasing) he could smell the reeking smoke of Satan, arising from within the very bowels of the Holy Church itself. I have always interpreted this remark as referring to Social Gospel ideology.

The Devil is having a field day, these days! [Because he knows his time is "short."]

The good news is: I still have my Holy Scriptures, and the Grace and Light of God by which to read them.

And so, all I can say is: Be not afraid! May God ever be with you and your dear ones!

Thank you so very much for sharing your astute observations, dear sister in Christ!

I have rejected organized religion long ago.. for some of the reasons you highlighted above.. and more..
The “social gospel” must be present in a social setting..

“People” just love the sheep pens.. being “sheep”..
John ch. 10 was a revelation to me.. where Jesus(the gate) called the sheep out of the sheep pen BUT they would NOT come out.. some of them.. (implied).. History shows us this to be true..

I have experienced this many times.. where people transfer their loyalty’s from Jesus to the sheep pen.. It may be “a TEST”.. (as I see it) the sheep pen is.. Jesus never forbade denominations.. I wondered about that as well..

Without Jesus you need clergy.. happened to the Jews multiple times too according to the old testament.. With clergy you need a whole range of ancillary “stuff”..

No doubt Jesus has been and is on vacation.. BUT he seems to have left the Holy Spirit in charge.. as the delegated master of this planet.. I am OK with that..

If Jesus is not on vacation then how can he “come back”..
I am OK with Jesus hiatus.. and do not view the Holy Spirit as a doofus.. but supremely up to the task at hand.. Humanity is presently choosing their “sides” according to their proclivities.. From “churches” to the Masons and Moose and Elks to Boy Scouts.. all sheep pens..

ALL seems to be going on quite nicely.. choosing sides and groups to hang with.. including democrats and republicans and other Loosertarians.. denominations of a sort..

I see it all as a brilliant plan.. even anarchists are grouped together loosely.. and Marxists, Socialists, Maoists, random Communists and Journalists.. I see this as the way it should be.. You know... before Jesus gets off vacation... comes back to assume responsibilities..

I am doing my best to not be a part of a sheep pen..
Its not easy either.. was a republican for years..
IS God Kool or WHAT?.. He is so far ahead of mankind this planet is like a maze and humans rats..

Pray for me that I do not join any group.. I am weak and lowly of heart.. and not too smart..
I also like “shiny” things.. and a good Beaujolais will temp me...

betty: The Devil is having a field day, these days! [

Spirited: Exactly so, and he has had no end of human helpers.

Over fifty years ago Socialists, Communists, Progressive Liberals and other seculars dedicated to an agenda of evil began implementing a diabolically conceived process to bring about the corruption of Americans—especially Christians over and across the entire denominational spectrum:

“We have battled since the century’s turn to bring to nothing…all Christian influences and we are succeeding. You must work until officials of city, county, and state will not think twice before they pounce upon religious groups as public enemies. (There must) be a…foaming hatred of religion…a belief that Christian practice is vicious, bad, insanity causing, publicly hated and intolerable.” (Red Communist Textbook on Psychopolitics)

Early conservative intellectual Anthony Harrigan lashed out at the legion of influential corrupters for deliberately fostering a code of “immorality.” Through media, university, seminaries and other mind-shaping organs America’s corrupt ruling class are forcing,

“…the acceptance of pornography as medical science, filth as artistic realism, and abnormality as a mere difference of opinion…Americans are in the hands of a cultural ruling class which, having led to destruction the humane elements in our civilization, is conducting us to ruin.” They seek to create liberal-bred barbarians “motivated by a destructive impulse” and unchecked by “traditional values and restraints.” (The Conservative Intellectual Movement in America, George H. Nash, p. 40)

As a consequence, Biblically illiterate Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, mainline Protestant and Evangelical Christians unchecked by traditional values and restraints are now a dime a dozen and as Walter Kirn, literary editor for GQ magazine discovered, growing millions of contemporary evangelicals live in a multimillion dollar alternaculture,

“…in which everything in mainstream culture gets cloned and then leached of ‘sinful’ content…” (The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elitists, and Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised as Freedom, David Kupelian, p.228)

To gain firsthand experience of the evangelical alternaculture Kirn spent,

“…seven strange days walking in the shoes of the faithful.” He left behind “the fallen world of secular American pop culture and (entered) into the self-contained parallel universe of American Christian pop culture…watching PAX instead of NBC..” For Christian television fare “you get shows like the Sky Angel network’s ‘Ten Most Wanted’—a low-voltage rip-off of…MTV music-video countdown programs…An ad comes on for a pro-life pregnancy hot line..and then it’s back to the shabby veejay (who) slips (into) jive talk for the sign-off: ‘Thanks for hangin’ wit’ me….’ Such lame mimicry is the curse of most youth ministries.” (ibid., p. 230)

Kirn describes the evangelical ghetto as thin, weak and cumulatively demoralizing. He concludes that the problem is a lack of faith:

“Without the courage to lead, it numbly follows, picking up the major media’s scraps and gluing them back together with a cross on top.”

The key psychological strategy behind the corrupter’s diabolical technique is the knowledge that all individuals have an inherent fear of being alienated from the group. Thus through the media, Hollywood, the music industry, compromised theologians and other mind-shaping institutions corrupters psychologically manipulate this fear to herd victims toward compromise of conscience and conviction.

In the case of evangelicals, the consequences are stark and terrible. First, it has resulted in a lack of courage of conviction, an absolute necessity both for leadership and the bold speaking of truth to lies. Second, there is the infantilized, demoralizing evangelical alternaculture—the media’s programmatic debauchery glued together with a cross on top. And third, more than six-million morally confused and/or morally autonomous evangelical Christians voted for a President who supports abortion (death), same-sex marriage (sodomy), totalitarian green socialist initiatives (pantheism, Gaia, slavery), and who was touted by Newsweek as America’s first gay president.

According to Joel Rosenberg, 42% of the Protestant vote, 50% of the Catholic vote and 21 % of the Evangelical vote went for Obama. This means that all of these Christians either surrendered their Biblical convictions in the voting booth or they never really had any to begin with. (Joel C. Rosenberg Blog, Nov. 8, 2012)

Corruption has won. With Obamas’ re-election it can be seen that the scales are tipped in favor of universal ignorance and moral corruption.

Over fifty years ago John Hallowell, another spiritually perceptive intellectual conservative, foresaw Americas’ coming doom and warned that if America is to find redemption from the tyranny of evil,

“We must restore to our vocabulary a word discarded long ago, namely sin.” (The Conservative Intellectual Movement in America, George Nash, p. 52)

(selected passages from The Corruption of American Christians and the Triumph of Obama, http://exilesinbabylon.com/2012/11/the-corruption-of-american-christians-the-triumph-of-obama/

Thank you so much for your testimony, dearest sister in Christ!

The good news is: I still have my Holy Scriptures, and the Grace and Light of God by which to read them.

Amen. Praise God!!!

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. - I John 2:27

The important part is to follow God's leading in whatever we do, including the church fellowships we keep. He'll take care of the details.

[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. - Romans 8:1

LOLOL!

Like you, dear hosepipe, I really am more comfortable in the pasture than in the pen. But I imagine the pens serve a purpose otherwise they would not be there.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. - John 10:9

Thank you so much for sharing those disturbing facts and all your insights, dear spirited irish!

This means that all of these Christians either surrendered their Biblical convictions in the voting booth or they never really had any to begin with. (Joel C. Rosenberg Blog, Nov. 8, 2012)

I suspect many - clergy and laymen both - simply do not take God seriously for if they did, they could not do what they have done.

The Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matt 25:1-13) comes to mind. All of them thought they were brides, called themselves brides but only half took the bridegroom seriously, i.e. had oil for their lamps.

As I recall, oil is a metaphor for the Holy Spirit.

And truly, if a person is indwelt by the the Holy Spirit how could he possibly not take Him seriously?

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. - Romans 8:9

[ Like you, dear hosepipe, I really am more comfortable in the pasture than in the pen. But I imagine the pens serve a purpose otherwise they would not be there. ]

In consideration of this in lieu of John ch 10.. and the subject of sheep pens..
I have deducted looking around me in my experience of sheep pens.. THAT..
They are not all “sheep pens” but sheep, goat, cow, camel, even Tasmanian Devil pens..
i.e. Lion, Vulture, mouse, rat, eagle and donkey pens as well..

It appears people resemble and “ape” many animals in their groupings.. that “sheep pen” may be “hint” to human folly..
“Sheep pen” being used to make a complicated subject simple and approachable...

Humans seem to denominate into groups with group personalities..
Selecting groups they are comfortable in/with..
If so; then humans self select themselves into groups with personalities.. if at all..

If it was designed to be so.. THEN it is quite brilliant even I would say a bit of genius..
Humans spiritually being a self collating mechanism...
Removing for all time excuses of who that “spirit” is personally..

Yes, I believe God designed it that way and it was brilliant!

As they say "birds of a feather flock together" and if that were not true concerning penguins and skuas, there would be fewer penguins and fatter skuas.

And it is quite telling which groups people choose to join or be associated with - their personal aspirations or perhaps, how they see themselves.
